Job summary

An international engineering consultancy is looking for a Functional Safety Engineer to ensure compliance with safety standards in the railway sector. This position involves managing functional safety activities, conducting hazard analysis, and collaborating with various teams. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of EN50126 and experience in functional safety engineering, with fluent English skills required. The position can be based in Krakow or Lublin, with the option for two remote days per week.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Functional Safety Engineer, preferably in the railway industry.
  • Strong knowledge of EN50126 and related standards.
  • Skills in hazard analysis, FMEDA, FTA, and safety requirements engineering.
  • Fluent English (spoken & written).

Overview

Functional Safety Engineer – Railway and BMS

Location: Krakow or Lublin (Poland) / Morocco (2 remote days per week)

Start date: ASAP

Contract: 3 months (renewable every 3 months)

We are supporting one of our international clients in the railway sector with the recruitment of a Functional Safety Engineer. This role is key in ensuring compliance with functional safety standards during product development.

Responsibilities
  • Manage functional safety activities throughout product development.
  • Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments (HARA), FMEDA, fault tree analysis.
  • Define safety requirements at system, hardware, and software levels.
  • Ensure compliance with railway safety standards, including EN50126.
  • Collaborate closely with system, hardware, software, and validation teams.
  • Support suppliers in implementing safety concepts.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement in functional safety processes.
Qualifications
  • Experience as a Functional Safety Engineer (preferably in the railway industry).
  • Strong knowledge of EN50126 and related standards.
  • Skills in HARA, FMEDA, FTA, and safety requirements engineering.
  • Fluent English (spoken & written).
  • Battery systems knowledge.
