Job summary

Netguru is offering a freelance software architect role focused on building scalable TypeScript monorepos and robust backend services. The project centers on Next.js and Node.js service design, with strong PostgreSQL data modeling for financial-style data.

Security-by-design, RBAC/MFA, audit trails, and data residency are integral, aligned with SOC 2 II / EU Data Act requirements. This four-month remote engagement is ideal for experienced architects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience architecting TypeScript monorepos at production scale.
• Deep experience with Next.js and Node.js service design.
• Strong PostgreSQL data modeling experience, ideally with financial or ledger-style data.
• Hands-on experience designing security and compliance into an architecture — RBAC/MFA, immutable audit trails, data residency/segregation.
• Working familiarity with SOC 2 Type II and/or the EU Data Act, translating compliance requirements into concrete architectural decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to design data isolation/segregation architectures for systems with sensitive persisted data and AI/third-party processing.

Project duration: 4 months

• Proven experience architecting TypeScript monorepos (Nx or Turborepo) at production scale
• Deep experience with Next.js and Node.js service design
• Strong PostgreSQL data modeling experience, ideally with financial or ledger-style data (transactional integrity, auditability, state machines)
• Hands-on experience designing security and compliance into an architecture — RBAC/MFA, immutable audit trails, data residency/segregation — rather than bolting on controls after the fact
• Working familiarity with SOC 2 Type II and/or the EU Data Act (or comparable regulatory frameworks), with the ability to translate compliance requirements into concrete architectural decisions
• Demonstrated ability to design data isolation/segregation architectures for systems that combine sensitive persisted data with AI or third-party processing — this is the single most important skill for the role, and we will test for it directly rather than assume it from a title

Nice to have

• Prior architecture experience in fintech or another regulated domain (healthtech, insurtech, etc.)
• Cloud-agnostic Infrastructure-as-Code fluency (Terraform or similar) to keep a three-environment setup vendor-neutral
• Experience working alongside a security-focused PM or compliance function from the Discovery phase onward
