Job summary

Bilfinger Engineering in Poland seeks a seasoned Fire Protection Engineering professional to design Fire protection and Life Safety systems and to lead business development across Eastern Europe. You will engage with clients, develop proposals, and coordinate with engineering teams to deliver compliant solutions.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, strong English skills, and the ability to negotiate and present to clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 5+ years in Fire protection design, Fire & Life Safety, and related business development.
• Experience with Fire protection and Fire & Gas detection design in Eastern Europe.
• English level at least B2; strong presentation and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Design Fire protection systems per local and international standards.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities for Fire Protection, Fire & Life Safety, and consultancy.
• Build and maintain a database of Polish end users, EPCs, architects, and facility operators.
• Prepare, submit, and negotiate technical and commercial proposals.
• Follow up proposals through to PO award and provide forecasts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design of Fire protection system, Fire detection & alarm system and Fire and Life safety as per local and international standards
• Identify and develop new business opportunities for Fire Protection, Fire & Life Safety and Fire & Gas Engineering Consultancy services
• Develop and maintain a database of Polish end users, developers, EPC contractors, architects, general contractors, and industrial facility operators
• Generate qualified leads through market analysis, networking, industry events, and client engagement
• Build strong relationships with key decision-makers within client organizations
• Conduct client meetings to understand project requirements and identify engineering consultancy opportunities
• Deliver technical and business presentations showcasing the company's capabilities and value proposition
• Coordinate with the engineering team to develop technical solutions and commercial proposals
• Prepare, submit, and negotiate technical and commercial proposals
• Follow up on submitted proposals and actively drive opportunities through to Purchase Order (PO) award
• Maintain an opportunity pipeline and provide regular sales forecasts and progress reports
• Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and upcoming projects
• Support prequalification submissions, vendor registrations, and framework agreements
• Participate in exhibitions, conferences, and industry networking events to enhance business visibility

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Fire Protection, Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in design of Fire protection, Fire detection & alarm system, Fire & Life safety and associated business development, sales, or technical marketing within Fire Protection, Fire & Gas Consultancy
• Experience in design of Fire Protection and Fire & Gas detection system in Eastern European countries
• Familiarity with applicable Polish Construction Law (Prawo Budowlane) and Fire Protection Act (Ustawa o Ochronie Przeciwpożarowej), including relevant PN-EN54, PN-EN12845 standards, together with familiarity with international standards such as NFPA, FM Global, ISO, and client standards (e.g., ORLEN S.A., Grupa Azoty S.A. and other clients) is an advantage
• Authorized by State Fire Service to work as Fire Safety Expert to certify Fire protection, Fire & Life safety drawings for local authority approval
• Proven experience in proposal preparation, client presentations, and contract negotiations
• Communicative level of English (minimum B2)
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
