Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Service Engineer to join our team in Indonesia. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong background in Automation and Safety Control systems, as well as hands-on experience with Bridge and Navigation systems onboard vessels. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining Kongsberg’s advanced maritime systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction. The position requires a high level of technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and a customer-oriented mindset. What you will be doing
  • Deliver high-quality customer support, commissioning, and service for assigned Kongsberg Automation and Control systems.
  • Perform service activities primarily within Southeast Asia, while fostering strong relationships with existing clients and
  • Conduct workshop testing and ensure thorough technical preparation prior to service execution.
  • Plan, execute, and complete assigned tasks with professionalism and ensure all work meets performance and quality standards.
  • Prepare and submit detailed service reports, and update related documentation such as technical drawings, cable databases, and system records.
  • Provide remote support and technical guidance to customers, including commissioning and managing retrofit/refit projects, as well as backend support to the service team.
  • Collaborate with the Sales team by offering technical input and support as required.
  • Manage pre- and post-service administrative tasks in a timely and organized manner.
  • Carry out other ad-hoc duties and assignments as delegated by management.
We think you should have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or Instrumentation.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant field experience in automation and control systems, with solid knowledge of computer hardware, peripherals, and basic software.
  • Hands-on experience with shipboard automation systems, including system processes, distributed control systems (DCS), and power management systems.
  • Previous experience in the maritime industry is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive, results-oriented, and self-motivated approach.
  • Demonstrates a structured and detail-oriented mindset when handling remote technical support cases.
  • Problem-solver with a self-driven attitude and ability to work independently under pressure.
  • Service-minded, with a customer-focused attitude, patience, and professionalism.
  • Effective project management skills and the ability to manage tasks from initiation to completion.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel internationally on short notice.
