Job summary

edrone is seeking a Field Installation Engineer to perform field installations of industrial vision systems at client sites across Europe, the UK, and occasionally the USA. The role focuses on hands-on installation, cabling, camera setup, and integration with factory IT networks.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in network equipment, electrical drawings, and safety certifications (SEP G1/G1 E), with fluent English and German and readiness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

Field Installation Engineer (Industrial Vision Systems)

Client: A leading global company headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, committed to empowering the manufacturing sector through transformative AI-driven technologies. Their mission is to deliver performance, safety, and resilience to industrial producers in a rapidly changing world.

Role: Join an international team specializing in the field installation of advanced industrial vision systems at client sites across Europe, the UK, and occasionally the USA. If you combine strong technical expertise with hands-on installation skills and enjoy working on the road — this role could be for you!

System Overview: The system consists of a server and a network of cameras (4–80 per plant) interconnected via Ethernet switches. Supplemental components may include speakers and PLC controllers integrated with production machinery.

Work Mode:Field-based, mobile work — installations at customer sites.

Typical Installation Tasks:

Planning with the client: defining responsibilities, resources, and schedule

Planning hardware deployment and job sequencing

Integrating the server with the client IT infrastructure

Optionally mounting communication modules (SIM router, Starlink)

Running Ethernet cabling from server rooms to cameras and other equipment

Installing and calibrating cameras

Connecting PLCs to factory machinery

Documenting the completed installation

Working in factory environments, which may vary in complexity and comfort

Key Requirements:

Experience working with network equipment.

Experience with various data exchange protocols and configuring server hardware.

Experience reading and creating electrical drawings, installing equipment in electrical cabinets, and pulling cables.

Ability to install cameras and Ethernet cables in a plant.

Ability to design and implement installations in a time and material efficient manner.

Certifications for working with electrical equipment and safety certifications for working under voltage (SEP G1 or SEP G1 E certification) – must have.

Fluent English and German (both verbal and written) – must have.

Willingness to obtain a certification for working at heights.

Willingness to frequently travel internationally (primarily to Europe, the UK, occasionally the USA); travel time may range from 1 day to 2-3 weeks.

At least basic knowledge of LAN networks (Ethernet, switches).

Technical and manual skills – installation, assembly, and configuration of equipment.

Category B driving license – must have.

Nice to Have:

Experience in installing and commissioning CCTV cameras/systems.

Experience working in a CAD environment to modify drawings.

Experience working at heights.

Knowledge of German, French, or Spanish.

Own car.
