Job summary

InPost is building a lean, highly effective fintech engineering organization in Poland, delivering scalable fintech components and AI-native tooling. The Engineering Manager will mentor 4–5 senior engineers, shape the quarterly roadmap with product management, and ensure end-to-end delivery with strong architectural direction.

You will promote agentic engineering, drive data-driven delivery metrics, and lead incident post-mortems to continuously improve reliability in a fast-growing fintech

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend software development experience.
• 2+ years in people leadership (direct management of engineers).
• 2+ years in the payments or fintech product domain.
• Very good command of English (B2+).
• Strong architecture and code review involvement.
• Experience with delivery management: sprint planning, dependency tracking, risk management, and DORA metrics.
• Product ownership mindset and roadmap shaping in collaboration with Product Management.
• University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI tools to accelerate development.
• Data-driven management with metrics like cycle time and deployment frequency.

Engineering Manager - Fintech Engineering (m/f/n)

InPost Pay is building its own fintech platform from the ground up. It’s a large-scale, international initiative where engineers will have the opportunity to shape the architecture, build core fintech components, and create solutions designed to operate at InPost’s scale.

We’re building a lean, highly effective engineering organization in Poland, with AI-native engineering at its core. We’re looking for strong engineers who are comfortable with agentic engineering, from experienced professionals building complex systems and engineering tooling to a new generation of engineers who have embraced AI-driven development from the start of their careers.

Your key responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the team – hire, onboard, and mentor 4–5 senior engineers, holding a high engineering quality bar through regular 1:1s, growth planning, and performance management.
• Co-author the product roadmap – partner with the PM to bring engineering constraints and opportunities into quarterly planning, rather than simply receiving it.
• Own delivery end-to-end – drive sprint planning, dependency mapping, risk identification, and stakeholder expectation management across the team's domain.
• Provide technical leadership – uphold code review culture, testing standards, and architectural direction in partnership with the Staff Engineer, while promoting engineering excellence.
• Drive an AI-first, agentic team culture – embed agentic tools into daily workflows, enforce harness adoption, and track data-driven delivery metrics (DORA, cycle time, harness adoption).
• Own incident response for the team's domain – lead post-mortems and remediation, ensuring reliability and continuous improvement.

Must have:

• 7+ years of experience in backend software development.
• 2+ years of experience in people leadership (direct management of engineers).
• 2+ years of experience in the payments or fintech product domain.
• Very good command of English (B2+) in speech and writing.
• Strong technical credibility, with active engagement in architecture and code review, not removed from it.
• Experience in delivery management: sprint planning, dependency tracking, risk management, and DORA metrics.
• Product co-ownership mindset – experience shaping roadmaps and backlogs in close partnership with Product Management.
• University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI tools and large language models (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to enhance productivity, accelerate development, and solve complex problems.
• Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs and apply them responsibly within professional workflows.
• Data-driven approach to management, acting on metrics such as cycle time, deployment frequency, defect rates, and team health rather than impressions alone.
• Direct, clear communication style with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.

Nice to have:

• Experience in platform or infrastructure team management.
• Exposure to OKR / goal-setting frameworks for engineering teams.
• Familiarity with compensation and leveling frameworks.
• Experience designing engineering culture in agentic / AI-native environments.
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
