Job summary

Adform's Big Data Group is searching for an Engineering Manager to lead two backend teams responsible for processing, storing, and delivering real-time data across the Adform Flow product and external clients. You will partner with Product Managers and Architects to align with the product roadmap and drive architectural decisions.

In Warsaw, you will own people management, delivery outcomes, and stakeholder alignment, ensuring teams perform at a high level while meeting organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop backend engineering teams within the Big Data Group.
• Plan, prioritise, and oversee backend project delivery to meet roadmap milestones.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Director, and Architects on technical direction.
• Ensure system reliability, performance, and monitoring; drive incident management and RCA.
• Refine team processes (agile, CI/CD, testing) to improve productivity and quality.
• Communicate progress, risks, and trade-offs to leadership and stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance to ensure scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.

About the Role and Team

The Big Data Group is responsible for processing, storing, and delivering meaningful information both within the Adform Flow product and to external clients. Its work begins once raw internet data is captured and available in the Adform environment. The group’s processing mechanisms transform raw data into augmented, valuable information, which is stored in Vertica and HDFS. Several development teams operate within the group, each focused on building microservices that handle real-time data. These services support various domains such as DMP, Reporting, Algo, and Research. The Engineering Manager role in Big Data oversees two of these teams. The manager is accountable for people management, delivery of development outcomes, and stakeholder alignment. The Engineering Manager works closely with Product Managers and the Product Director to coordinate delivery against the product roadmap, and with Architects to ensure teams understand and align with the agreed technical direction and requirements. Ultimately, the role ensures that teams perform at a high level while meeting organisational goals.

Stand out by having

• Technical background in backend engineering, distributed systems, or Big Data, enabling you to effectively support and challenge technical decisions made by the team
• Understanding of Big Data and cloud technologies, such as Kafka, Hadoop, Vertica, or public cloud platforms
• Experience working in AdTech or other data-intensive technology domains
