Job summary

Tripadvisor is hiring a Director of Engineering for the Tripadvisor Experiences group. This remote-first role leads a high-performing engineering team with a strong emphasis on Agile practices and strategic technical leadership. Open to candidates within commuting distance of Krakow office, with periodic in-person gatherings.

You will partner with Product and business owners to align roadmaps, mentor engineers, and drive high-quality delivery across the stack while balancing speed and robustness.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial software development experience.
• Experience directly managing Engineering Managers.
• Background in product-focused environments with stakeholder collaboration.
• Strong leadership, performance feedback, and career planning.
• Hands-on in designing scalable, high-performance systems.
• Experience with Agile development and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing technical team, hiring, training, and mentoring engineers.
• Foster an innovative culture and champion Agile processes.
• Develop project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
• Be hands-on across multiple layers of the software and data stack; perform code/design reviews.
• Work with principal engineers to drive technology strategy and roadmap.
• Collaborate with Product Manager to balance features with engineering robustness.
• Communicate with stakeholders to align goals, commitments, and timelines.
• Define and enforce engineering best practices to ensure quality and timely delivery.
