Job summary

Aptean is seeking a Privacy Counsel to join its global legal team, focusing on GDPR and EMEA data protection. This hands-on role works with product, engineering, security and commercial teams to deliver pragmatic privacy advice.

Responsibilities include DPIAs/PIAs, data retention, SCCs, DPAs and privacy by design, with a strong emphasis on cross‑border data transfers and incident response. Hybrid work.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years of post-qualification privacy experience.
• Strong knowledge of GDPR and EMEA privacy frameworks.
• Experience advising in a multi-jurisdictional or global organization.

Responsibilities

• Advise on GDPR and broader EMEA data protection compliance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate DPAs and privacy clauses in customer and vendor agreements.
• Embed privacy by design into products and business processes with cross-functional teams.
• Conduct privacy risk assessments and support data incident assessment and remediation.
• Manage and coordinate DSARs and advise on e-privacy and marketing compliance.
