Electrical Engineer – Power System Analysis & Modeling (Mid / Senior)

Location:100% Remote (Candidate must be based in Europewith readiness for occasional on-site client visits)

Your Key Responsibilities:

Power System Studies - Performing calculations (details below), whether you are a strong mid or an experienced senior.

Data Collection - Visiting client facilities across Europe to gather technical data from electrical installations.

Technical Reporting - Preparing comprehensive documentation, studies, and technical reports.

Team Support - Assisting our sales and technical teams and contributing to the development of new company services.

Types of Calculations You Will Handle:

  • Arc Flash Studies:Utilizing adaptive settings, Arc Flash Relays, ARMS, or Arc Quenching Systems
  • Power Flow & Cable Sizing:LV, MV
  • Dynamic & Transient Studies:TRV, dynamic switching, grid code studies(huge plus for senior candidates!)

What We Require (Must-Haves):

Experience - Minimum1+ yearof professional experience in power system studies and grid modeling.

Education - Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

Location -Residency inEurope(with full readiness for business travel across European client sites).

Languages -Professional working proficiency inEnglish+ fluency in at least one additional European language.

Soft Skills -High level of independence, meticulous attention to detail, and strong analytical problem-solving skills.

Position Levels – Electrical Engineer

MID

Scope of Responsibility and Independence

  • Independently performs tasks on typical projects; does not require continuous supervision, but only occasional technical support.
  • Communicates effectively with clients and adapts communication to the project context.
  • Plans their own work effectively and anticipates the potential impact of disruptions on project delivery.
  • Identifies and communicates technical issues, risks, and blockers within projects.
  • Independently acquires missing knowledge required to complete assigned tasks.

Engineering Analyses and Calculations

Comfortably performs standard engineering analyses, including:

  • Short-circuit calculations in accordance with IEC 60909.
  • Load flow analyses.
  • Arc Flash analyses in accordance with IEEE 1584 and DGUV 203-077.
  • Protection settings and selectivity/coordination studies.
  • Harmonic analyses.
  • MV and LV cable sizing using tabular methods and calculation-based methods, including the Neher-McGrath method.

Software

Has practical working knowledge of:

  • ETAP 22.5 or later.
  • SKM.
  • EOM or Caneco.

Field Service

  • Has completed electrical safety training and holds SEP qualifications or an equivalent certification.
  • Is comfortable working during site visits at power and energy facilities across Europe.
  • Understands the operation and application of standard electrical equipment and switchgear.
  • Can identify and assess typical electrical hazards and apply appropriate safe working practices.

Technical and Soft Skills

  • Draws appropriate conclusions and correctly interprets analysis results.
  • Prepares concise technical reports using existing templates and contributes to the development of new templates.
  • Develops technical recommendations and solutions, including in areas such as:
  • protection and EAZ settings,
  • cable selection and sizing,
  • modernization of switchgear and electrical installations,
  • selection of PPE,
  • modification and optimization of protection systems.

SENIOR

Scope of Responsibility and Independence

The Senior level includes all requirements defined for the MID level, plus:

  • Independently delivers highly complex projects and takes technical responsibility for their execution.
  • Supervises and supports the work of other engineers.
  • Independently resolves problems related to software, engineering models, and the technical aspects of calculations.
  • Explains complex technical topics to other engineers in a structured and understandable way.
  • Demonstrates a high level of personal organization and effectively manages their workload.
  • Can adopt the client's perspective and adjust the level and style of communication accordingly.

Engineering Analyses and Calculations

In addition to the MID-level scope, independently performs advanced engineering analyses, including:

  • Dynamic load flow analyses, including applications involving offshore generators, droop mode, and large-scale models.
  • Development and analysis of advanced harmonic models.
  • Advanced cable calculations and sizing using tools such as PSCAD, EMTP, and CYMCAP.
  • Dynamic network studies and configuration of basic dynamic models.

Software:

Uses advanced functions of engineering software and is able to train other engineers to use these tools effectively:

  • ETAP 22.5 or later, including the Transient and Harmonics modules.
  • SKM, DIgSILENT, or CYME.
  • PSCAD, EMTP, or EMTP-RV.

Field Service

In the field service area, demonstrates capabilities beyond the MID level:

  • Trains other engineers and site personnel in safe working practices in accordance with MRPS standards.
  • Develops new safety procedures and reviews and improves existing ones.
  • Plans and coordinates the work of multiple teams on large and complex sites.
  • Independently performs technical audits and client consultations on site, including for complex electrical installations.

Technical and Soft Skills

  • Analyses calculation results and assesses their correctness, consistency, and reliability.
  • Makes engineering decisions based on incomplete data and can clearly justify assumptions, limitations, and decision constraints.
  • Creates and develops document templates and reviews reports, conclusions, and recommendations prepared by other engineers.
  • Develops standardized solutions and templates for both typical and non-standard technical problems.
  • Designs and implements new processes and solutions tailored to specific client requirements or MRPS needs.
