Job summary

FlixBus is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) to support Flix on a project basis through a service agreement collaboration. The consultant will design, automate, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure for the Cloud Platform team within the Foundation Division.

The Cloud Platform team provides tools, infrastructure, and best practices that enable software engineers to build, deploy, and operate secure, robust applications with minimal operational overhead.

Qualifications

• Strong experience in DevOps roles across cloud platforms and infrastructure design.
• Hands-on Terraform and AWS expertise.
• Proficiency with Linux, Kubernetes, and CI/CD processes.
• Experience scripting in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes.
• Advance Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Automate operational processes and infra workflows with scripting.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and platform utilization by engineering teams.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure with Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
• Contribute to platform reliability, incident response, and DR efforts.
• Evaluate new technologies and provide implementation recommendations.
• Assist developer experience by enabling efficient use of platform tools.
• Participate in on-call activities to ensure platform availability.

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) to support Flix on a project basis through a service agreement collaboration. The consultant will provide expertise in designing, automating, monitoring, and maintaining cloud infrastructure for our Cloud Platform team within the Foundation Division.

The Cloud Platform team provides tools, infrastructure, expertise, and best practices that enable software engineering teams to build, deploy, and operate secure, robust, and efficient applications with minimal operational overhead.

Scope of Services

• Design, deploy, monitor, and maintain cloud infrastructure running on AWS and Kubernetes
• Support the further development of Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform
• Automate operational processes and infrastructure workflows using scripting or programming languages such as Bash, Python, or Go
• Support CI/CD processes and help engineering teams make effective use of the cloud platform stack
• Troubleshoot infrastructure and platform issues using monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
• Contribute to platform reliability, incident response, and disaster recovery improvements
• Evaluate relevant technologies and provide recommendations for implementation
• Support developer experience improvements by enabling teams to work more efficiently with platform tools
• Where agreed, participate in operational support or on-call activities to ensure platform availability

About You

• Strong professional experience as a DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, or Cloud Engineer
• Hands‑on experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally Terraform
• Experience with public cloud environments, preferably AWS
• Good knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, and CI/CD processes
• Experience with at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Go, or Bash
• Good technical communication skills and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams
• Experience delivering services independently within cloud, infrastructure, or platform engineering projects
• Professional proficiency in English

Nice to Have

• Experience with GitOps tools such as FluxCD or ArgoCD
• Experience with Istio, Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana
• Experience improving Developer Experience in engineering organizations
• Experience working in agile or product-oriented technology environments
• Experience with API Gateways
• Contributions to open-source projects or upstream repositories
• Cooperation based on a service agreement with independent delivery of agreed services and invoicing
• Project-based collaboration with Flix stakeholders and engineering teams
