Job summary

Emporix is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer (or high-potential Mid-level) in Poland to ensure our Kubernetes-based platform runs reliably, securely, and at scale. You will own infrastructure design, IaC, and production readiness.

You’ll work with the DevOps Team Lead and engineers, pairing hands-on cloud engineering with security baked into pipelines, CI/CD, and monitoring. Remote from anywhere in Poland with monthly office visits in Gliwice.

• 4+ years in DevOps/SRE/Cloud engineering.
• Proven ability to design scalable cloud-native infra with IaC.
• Fluent Polish and English (min B2) and strong communication.
• Degree in CS/CE or related field.

Job description

Emporix is an AI-driven Autonomous Commerce Execution Platform that gives enterprises full control over how their commerce works. It orchestrates operations end-to-end—so companies can scale faster, respond smarter, and deliver better customer experiences. We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer (or a high-potential Mid-level candidate) to join our team in Poland. You will be a key player in ensuring our headless commerce solution runs flawlessly on Kubernetes, balancing the development of new infrastructure with the vital work of maintaining and optimizing our production environments.

DevOps is the core of this role. Alongside it, you will be the team's go-to person for practical infrastructure security: hardening what we run, closing gaps you find, and making sure security is built into our pipelines rather than bolted on afterwards. You won't be on your own - you'll work with the DevOps Team Lead and the wider engineering team, and bring in external specialists where deeper expertise is needed.

You can work from our modern office in Gliwice or remotely from anywhere in Poland, with a visit to the office at least once per month to meet the team.

What You’ll Be Doing

Infrastructure Design & Evolution

• Collaborate with the DevOps Team Lead to design, build, and scale our cloud-native infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Support developers in running a complex headless e-commerce solution on Kubernetes, ensuring environments are reproducible and efficient.
• Continuously look for new, innovative ways to improve the infrastructure and stay ahead of technology trends.

Operational Excellence & Maintenance

• Take ownership of the stability and reliability of our platform, managing the balance between building new capabilities and maintaining existing systems.
• Refine and improve CI/CD processes and automation to ensure smooth, frequent, and safe deployments.
• Handle production support by investigating and resolving deep-level infrastructure issues and performance bottlenecks.

Monitoring & Security

• Use cloud-native solutions to monitor system health and proactively address potential failures before they impact customers.
• Implement security best practices across the entire stack, ensuring that security is "baked in" to our automation and infrastructure.
• Optimize system performance and cloud costs through data-driven analysis and tuning.

Infrastructure Security

• Review and harden our cloud and Kubernetes setup: IAM and access policies, network configuration, secrets management, and workload isolation.
• Add security checks to our CI/CD pipelines, such as image and dependency scanning, and make sure findings get prioritised and fixed.
• Fix security issues hands-on, through Terraform, Helm, and policy changes, and address root causes so they don't come back.
• Support security reviews and compliance work by providing technical input, evidence, and remediation.
• Work closely with the DevOps Lead and the wider Engineering team to bridge the gap between code and production.
• Document infrastructure configurations, automation workflows, and disaster recovery processes.
• Share knowledge and best practices with the development team to foster a true DevOps culture.

About You

• Experience: You have 4+ years of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering role.
• Tech Stack: You are highly proficient with Kubernetes and have hands-on experience with a major cloud provider, ideally Azure or AWS (e.g., AKS/EKS, networking, storage, IAM). Experience with GCP is also welcome.
• Security Foundations: You have practical experience securing the infrastructure you run: cloud IAM, Kubernetes RBAC and network policies, secrets management, and TLS. You don't need to be a security specialist, but you're keen to grow in this area.
• Education: You hold a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Mindset: You are a "pragmatic builder"—you enjoy creating new systems but also find satisfaction in the "under the hood" work required to keep a platform stable and reliable.
• Communication: You communicate effectively in both Polish and English (minimum B2 level).
• Autonomy: You thrive in a startup-like environment where you can take a high degree of ownership and see the direct impact of your work.

Bonus Points

• Security Tooling: Experience with security scanning tools such as Trivy, Semgrep, or OWASP Dependency-Check, and familiarity with OWASP standards.
• Kubernetes Policy: Hands-on use of Pod Security Standards or policy engines like OPA/Gatekeeper or Kyverno.
• API Security: Understanding of OAuth 2.0, JWT, and API gateway configuration.
• Compliance: Exposure to ISO 27001 or SOC 2 requirements.
• Certifications: A cloud or Kubernetes certification (e.g., CKA, CKS, AWS or Azure Security).
• Architecture: A deep understanding of microservices and distributed systems.
• Advanced Monitoring: Experience with modern observability stacks like New Relic / Data Dog, etc.
• Startup Experience: You have previously worked in a fast-paced, growth-stage company.
