Job description

As a DevOps Engineer at payabl., you will play a key role in building and scaling our infrastructure while collaborating across multiple product teams. Your primary focus will be supporting the Data engineering team, ensuring robust, automated, and secure delivery of data-driven solutions. At the same time, you'll work closely with Banking, Payments, and payabl.one teams to enable faster, more reliable releases and provide the foundations for innovation across our global payments platform. This role is highly cross‑functional, giving you the opportunity to influence how teams build, deploy, and operate products at scale.

Location: Portugal, Poland fully remote. Cyprus Hybrid in Limassol Office.

What you will do:
  • Building and maintaining our Kubernetes clusters, (not just creating tools and also deploying apps with Helm), but the emphasis is on being able to do this in a code-first way: infrastructure as code
  • Work closely with other teams to identify pain points and problems around the platform
  • Develop new tools and frameworks to improve data platforms
  • Manage CI/CD. Design, develop, and implement CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation
  • Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure issues using tools like Prometheus, Grafana
  • Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations
  • Participate in code reviews and help teammates with constructive feedback
What we need:
  • At least 5 years of experience with containerization technology (Kubernetes, Docker) and cloud platforms
  • Proficiency in provisioning infrastructure and managing configurations with tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or AWS CloudFormation
  • Strong knowledge of Data lake services on AWS (Glue, Athena)
  • Linux experience: troubleshooting, Bash/Python/Perl scripting, familiarity with multiple distributions (Debian, Ubuntu, RHEL)
  • Experience developing automation for CI/CD pipelines, especially Jenkins
  • Good to have Kafka knowledge
  • Desire to learn and participate in coaching junior members of the team
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Outstanding attention to details
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • A customer‑centric, empathetic mindset with excellent listening skills
  • An ability to focus on what counts, creating simple solutions to deliver fast results
The perks of being a payabl.er:
  • Future‑Proof Your Finances: Once you've passed probation, we'll kickstart your Provident Fund to secure your future.
  • Grow with Us: Annual Learning Budget for professional development (after probation)—because your growth is our growth.
  • Wolt Your Way Through Lunch: €150 monthly Wolt allowance to keep you fueled and happy
  • Drive in Style: After one year with us, you may be eligible for a company car—performance and availability permitting.
  • Park with Ease: Complimentary parking space just steps from the office, so your commute is as smooth as your workday
  • Max Out Your Downtime: 25 days of vacation + public holidays, plus an additional 10 sick days to rest when needed
  • Shop & Save: Exclusive local discount card + tickets for exciting events like Beonix, basketball games, and more.
  • Speak Like a Local: Join free Greek language classes, twice a week, open to all team members.
  • Celebrate Together: Twice a year, we bring colleagues from all offices together for unforgettable company celebrations
  • Global Collaboration & Events: Opportunities to participate in international company events and initiatives, connecting with colleagues from all regions and contributing to a truly global community

The benefits listed above are for our Cyprus office location only; a list of benefits and contract type will be assessed subject to your location and discussed in the first interview with your Talent Acquisition Partner.

Hiring Process:
  • Step 1: Initial Interview - A 30-40 minute online interview with a Talent Acquisition Partner where we explore your experience, career goals, motivations, and overall fit for the role. This is your chance to walk us through your background and highlight your key achievements.
  • Step 2: Leadership Interview - A 30-minute online discussion with our CTO and CPO to align on the scope of the role, your background, and behavioral skills. We'll focus on how your experience matches the responsibilities and expectations for the position.
  • Step 3: Take-Home Assessment - You'll receive a technical scenario or task to complete within 5-7 days. The purpose is to evaluate your critical thinking, problem-solving, scalability, and technical skills. Our team lead and field technical experts will review this, and it typically takes a few hours to complete, but we're flexible on timing within the 7-day window.
  • Step 4 (Optional): Final Discussion - A 30-minute conversation with the CTO, Team Lead, and Talent Acquisition Partner to clarify any remaining questions about responsibilities, the domain, or the scope of the role. This is also your opportunity to learn more about our culture and expectations

Let's embark on a journey to redefine the landscape of payments together. We're not just offering a role; we're inviting you to be a part of something bigger. Join our team, and let's innovate, disrupt, and lead the future of payments. Together, we can make an impact that resonates. Welcome to the team!
