Job summary

IBM seeks a Designer to join its worldwide design organization for AI applications, crafting end-to-end customer experiences for AI-enabled solutions that drive data-driven decisions. You’ll translate insights into designs, create assets, and collaborate with researchers, developers, and product owners across global teams.

You will lead design thinking workshops, contribute to visual design patterns, and participate in iterative, Agile development to modernize software interfaces.

Qualifications

• Ability to solve complex user problems through UI design and documenting interaction patterns.
• Experience with design tools like Sketch, InVision, and Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Proficiency in creating visually compelling UI artifacts and high-fidelity mock-ups.
• Knowledge of typography, layout, color theory, and visual design workflows.
• Strong communication skills to understand and address customer requirements.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment.
• A portfolio showcasing previous design work.

Responsibilities

• Translate insights from design research into low and high-fidelity mock-ups, patterns, and specs.
• Create high-fidelity mock-ups, graphics, design patterns, prototypes, and demos for UIs.
• Discuss and refine common patterns, assets, and efficiencies across product spaces.
• Collaborate with design and development teams to build, update, and modernize interfaces using Agile methods.
• Design business process scenarios and flows for user interfaces and demos.
• Share work-in-progress designs and participate in constructive critique.
• Understand business problems across customers to provide context for deliverables.
• Collaborate with design researchers, content designers, developers, and product owners across teams.
• Plan, lead, and moderate design thinking workshops.

As a Designer, you'll play a crucial role in creating end-to-end customer experiences for AI-enabled solutions that help businesses make informed, data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Translate Insights into Designs: Convert actionable insights from the design research team into low and high-fidelity mock-ups, patterns, prototypes, and development-ready specifications.

• Create Visual Assets: Develop high-fidelity mock-ups, graphics, design patterns, prototypes, and demos to enhance user interfaces.

• Pattern Collaboration: Participate in discussions regarding common patterns, assets, and efficiencies within the product space.

• Collaborative Development: Work closely with design team members and developers to build, update, and modernize software product user interfaces using agile methodologies.

• Scenario Design: Design business process scenarios and flows for user interfaces and demonstrations.

• Feedback Loop: Share work-in-progress designs and actively engage in giving and receiving constructive critique.

• Business Context: Understand business problems across our customer base to provide context for deliverables.

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with various stakeholders such as design researchers, content designers, developers, product owners, etc., across worldwide teams.

• Design Thinking Workshops: Plan, lead, and moderate virtual and in-person design thinking workshops.

Required technical and professional expertise

• UI Problem Solving: Ability to solve complex user problems through user interface design, creating mock-ups, prototypes, and documenting interaction patterns.

• Design Tools Proficiency: Demonstrated experience with design tools such as Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc.

• Visual Design Skills: Proficient in creating visually compelling artifacts, icons, high fidelity mock-ups, and other graphical elements for user interfaces.

• Design Principles: Knowledge of design principles including typography, layout, imagery, colour theory, and creating efficiencies in visual design workflows.

• Communication Skills: Proven communication skills and the ability to understand and address customer requirements effectively.

• Dynamic Environment: Comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment.

• Portfolio Presentation: Must have a portfolio showcasing previous design work.
