Job description

Haskoning is a global leader in the design and engineering of Mission Critical Facilities, particularly in the data center industry. Our dedicated MCF Data Centre team collaborates with top data center providers across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the UK to create innovative and sustainable solutions. As digital technologies continue to drive global growth, we are expanding our team and offer exciting opportunities for experienced professionals to join us in key locations such as the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, the UK, and South Africa.

What you do as a Design Coordinator (MCF/ Data Centres)

As a Design Coordinator within our MCF team, you will take ownership of the full design coordination process for highly demanding international clients. Our projects go far beyond standard building design and require advanced technical expertise, proactive collaboration across borders, and a strong focus on detailed 3D design up to working documentation level. You ensure that multidisciplinary designs are coordinated, constructable and cost effective, while continuously challenging solutions and driving quality.

Your main responsibilities include:
  • Developing the project scope of work, design budget and discipline deliverables together with the Project Manager;
  • Establishing and monitoring the design delivery schedule and managing workload distribution within the team;
  • Coordinating all multidisciplinary design matters to ensure technical alignment, constructability and cost efficiency;
  • Leading internal and external design meetings, managing design changes and proactively optimizing solutions;
  • Collaborating closely with clients and international colleagues, driving innovation and clearly translating complex design concepts into practical outcomes.

In addition to your project responsibilities, you contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes and actively share knowledge within the organization, supporting the ongoing development of our MCF expertise.

Where you will work

At Haskoning, you will join an independent, employee‑owned international consultancy that combines engineering, design, and consultancy services with software and technology. Our mission, "Enhancing Society Together," drives us to create a positive impact on the world.

We offer purpose‑driven and challenging work in diverse international projects, leveraging our 140+ years of expertise. With over 6,800 employees in more than 25 countries, we work together to turn challenges into opportunities and make a real impact on society. We collaborate with leading clients in markets such as infrastructure, climate resilience, renewable energy, decarbonisation of industry, and sustainable mobility.

As our new Design Coordinator (MCF/ Data Centres) you will become part of our Global Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) team.

Our global MCF team provides multidisciplinary consultancy services to datacentre clients, including colocation datacentres, internet service providers, and telecom companies. The team is diverse, with expertise in areas like electrical and sanitary engineering, construction, architecture, fire safety, control engineering, and security technology. Together, this knowledge is used to develop integrated designs for Data Centres. You will be part of a dedicated, passionate team that is globally recognized as one of the best in Data Centre design and engineering. Curious about our work? Here you will find examples of some our projects.

The role will be based in our Nijmegen office. As our team is located throughout the EU, travel between offices may be required to meet the project demands. The role may also require occasional travel to client offices/project sites both in the EU and overseas.

What you bring

You are an entrepreneurial and result oriented professional who takes ownership and acts proactively. With a positive, flexible and solution driven mindset, you know how to align multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholder expectations and maintain control in complex, fast paced project environments. Your strong communication skills enable you to clearly translate technical challenges into practical solutions for both colleagues and clients.

Qualifications and expertise
  • A Master’s degree in Sanitary or Electrical Engineering, providing the technical foundation required to understand and challenge complex MCF design solutions;
  • Minimum 7 years of experience managing multidisciplinary design and engineering projects, preferably within data centres or similarly complex environments, ensuring you can coordinate high risk, technically demanding projects;
  • Affinity with digital and automated design processes, including BIM360 and CDE platforms, as detailed 3D coordination and structured data management are essential in our projects;
  • Solid knowledge of standard design and construction practices, enabling you to safeguard quality, constructability and compliance throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Fluency in English and Polish, both written and spoken, as you will operate in an international environment while closely collaborating with local stakeholders and clients.
