Job summary

Sword Services Greece is seeking a Data Centre Technician to join a multinational team and support enterprise Data Centre environments for a European Union Agency. You will engage in hardware lifecycle management, installation, maintenance and documentation to ensure reliable ICT services.

The role emphasizes collaboration with international teams, adherence to change management, and proactive problem-solving in a secure mission-critical setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in ICT or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years in Data Centre operations or enterprise infrastructure.
  • Experience installing servers, storage and network gear.
  • Knowledge of rack layouts, cabling, PDUs and labeling.
  • English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission and decommission servers and network devices.
  • Perform rack & stack and structured cabling activities.
  • Manage hardware lifecycle: inventory, logistics, disposal.
  • Maintain hardware diagnostics and component replacement processes.
  • Maintain technical documentation and capacity reports.
  • Support change management and rack capacity planning.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors.

Job description

We are currently looking for a Data Centre Technician who will work in a multinational environment, supporting the operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise Data Centre environments for a European Union Agency. The role involves ensuring the smooth operation of critical Data Centre infrastructure, coordinating vendors and technical teams, supporting hardware lifecycle management, and contributing to infrastructure projects in a highly secure and mission-critical environment.

This is an opportunity to work on large-scale enterprise infrastructure, collaborate with international teams, and contribute to the reliability and availability of critical ICT services.

What you will do...
  • Install, commission and decommission servers, network devices and other Data Center infrastructure.
  • Perform rack & stack activities, structured cabling and hardware installation following operational standards.
  • Manage hardware lifecycle activities, including inventory, asset tracking, logistics and equipment disposal.
  • Perform hardware maintenance, basic troubleshooting and coordinate component replacements and RMA processes.
  • Maintain technical documentation, inventory records and Data Center capacity reports.
  • Support infrastructure changes, maintenance activities and rack capacity planning following change management procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure the reliable operation of enterprise Data Center environments.
Technical Skills required...
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or another ICT-related field.
  • Minimum 2years of professional experience in Data Centre operations or enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • Hands-on experience installing servers, storage systems and network equipment.
  • Good understanding of rack layouts, structured cabling standards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs) and equipment labelling.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including LAN connectivity, patch panels and network switches.
  • Experience with asset management and inventory tracking systems.
  • Experience following operational procedures, change management and Data Center best practices.
  • Ability to perform basic hardware diagnostics and component replacement.
  • Strong documentation, reporting and record-keeping skills.
  • Good command of English (minimum B2 level).
Experience in the following will be considered as an asset:
  • Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP) or Certified Data Centre Specialist (CDCS).
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Experience working with electrical systems and power infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise or public sector Data Centres.
  • Experience working in multinational or multicultural environments.
