Job summary

MWDN Ltd. is a global IT outstaffing company building an AI-powered data lakehouse platform. We seek a Data Infrastructure Engineer to design and maintain high-performance data lakehouse infrastructure with a focus on Apache Iceberg, Rust-based routing, and production-grade systems.

You will own data maintenance workflows and contribute to a multi-engine SQL routing stack. You’ll work on distributed data systems, review community contributions, and influence the product roadmap while enjoying

Qualifications

5+ years of software development in Java.
Strong Rust development experience.
Experience with TypeScript.
Production experience with data infrastructure and production systems.
Working knowledge of Apache Iceberg and Parquet.
Solid PostgreSQL experience.
Experience with Kubernetes.
Understanding of data maintenance operations and data integrity.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, including code reviews and open-source contributions.

Responsibilities

Design and ship services turning table health signals into safe, correct maintenance operations.
Ensure commits to customer tables are verifiably correct under concurrency, retries, and partial failures.
Develop a production-grade data maintenance system, including a compaction engine and related tooling.
Maintain QueryFlux: triage issues, review PRs, build new connectors, and cut releases.
Run what you build in production, including on-call and debugging in customer environments.

The product automates data maintenance, improves query performance, and reduces infrastructure costs across large-scale data environments using Apache Iceberg. The team focuses on high-performance data systems, distributed computing, Rust-based optimization, and AI integration, offering an opportunity to work on complex data infrastructure challenges in an early-stage product company.

What makes this project exciting?

We're looking for a Data Infrastructure Engineer to build and maintain high-performance data lakehouse infrastructure. You'll develop reliable data maintenance workflows for Apache Iceberg, covering compaction, snapshot expiry, manifest rewriting, and orphan file cleanup, with a strong focus on data integrity and correctness.

This role combines distributed data systems with open-source development. You'll also contribute to a Rust-based, multi-engine SQL query router, maintaining connectors, reviewing community contributions, and shaping the product roadmap. You'll have significant ownership and the opportunity to solve complex data infrastructure challenges in a product-focused startup.

5+ years of software development experience in Java

Design and ship the services that turn table health signals into safe, correct maintenance operations
Make every commit to a customer’s table verifiably correct, including under concurrent writers, retries, and partial failures
Work on a production-grade compaction engine and the systems around it
Maintain QueryFlux: triage issues, review pull requests, build new engine connectors, and cut releases
Run what you build in production, including on-call and debugging in customers’ real environments
