Job summary

Wlgroup seeks a hands-on data engineer to build integration, models and decision-support pipelines for a NATO-5 visa relocation to Norfolk, Virginia. You will design, test and maintain end-to-end data flows across multiple sources and create dashboards to show portfolio status.

The role requires a university degree in data science or related field, 3+ years of data integration/engineering, strong SQL and a BI background, plus fluent English. This is a long engagement that renews year on year.

Qualifications

• University degree in data science, computer science, information systems, engineering or closely related field, or equivalent experience.
• Recent end-to-end data delivery from need identification to operational solution.
• 3 of last 5 years in data integration and engineering, with hands-on work in the last 2 years.
• 2 of last 5 years using SQL and an analytical language, hands-on in the last 2.
• Experience designing digital data-collection and workflow solutions.
• 3 of last 5 years building business intelligence products.
• Hands-on data modelling, data quality and governance work.
• Experience documenting and handing over a solution so it survives without you.
• 2 of last 5 years working directly with operational users and programme staff.
• Fluent professional English.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on data integration, engineering and analysis across the portfolio.
• Work with programme managers, analysts and data owners to define information needs.
• Design, build, test and maintain repeatable pipelines ingesting data from multiple sources.
• Build data models, business rules and quality controls for trustworthy outputs.
• Prototype digital data-collection apps to replace manual reporting.
• Create dashboards, metrics and visualisations showing programme status.
• Apply descriptive and diagnostic analysis and predictive techniques where appropriate.
• Integrate portfolio data with enterprise sources via approved mechanisms.
• Identify and fix data quality, ownership, lineage and governance issues.
• Document sources, models, transformations and operating procedures for continuity.
