Job summary

MPower Plus in Kraków, Poland, is seeking an experienced Data Engineer for a hybrid role (3 days on-site per week) under a contract (B2B/freelancing). You will design and implement data pipelines using Python, Spark, and Azure Databricks, with strong SQL and database expertise driving data models and performance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in data engineering, familiarity with large-scale big data environments, and exposure to NoSQL databases.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Experience with large-scale Big Data environments.
• Strong SQL and relational/NoSQL database knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Develop data pipelines and workflows using Python, Spark and Databricks.
• Work with SQL databases, query optimization, and schema design.
• Leverage search/indexing and knowledge-graph related capabilities as needed.
• Collaborate on data modeling and data quality across platforms.
• Contribute to BI and analytics through data engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• ideally 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, including exposure to large-scale or Big Data environments
• strong experience with SQL and database systems (relational and NoSQL), including query optimization and schema design
• hands-on experience with search platforms or information retrieval technologies (indexing, ranking, text search, semantic search, metadata modeling, vector search, relevance tuning, etc.)
• knowledge of Graph Databases (e.g., Neo4j, Cosmos DB Gremlin API) and their application to knowledge graphs or entity-relationship search
• strong programming skills in Python, Scala, Spark, and experience with Big Data tools such as Azure Cloud, Databricks, and PowerBI (or equivalents)
