Job description

Introduction: We are Ocado Group, and we're bringing world-class automation to online grocery. Our Ocado Smart Platform (OSP) combines cutting-edge robotics, AI, and IoT within our advanced CFCs (Customer Fulfilment Centres). We've mastered the single pick, transforming online delivery for our global partners. Join us and be part of a team pushing the boundaries of retail technology.

About the Role As a Data Analyst in our Fulfilment Analytics team, you will play a crucial role in building a trusted semantic layer for business metrics and translating complex supply chain telemetry into actionable insights. Based within our Group Operations division, you will bridge the gap between raw product lifecycle data and the needs of our product managers and engineers who design core features for the Ocado Smart Platform (OSP). Your work will directly support the day-to-day health of our data ecosystem, enabling diverse stakeholders to optimise inbound stock flows, improve warehouse efficiency, and maximise overall throughput.

In this collaborative and forward-thinking role, you will partner closely with Core Data Engineering, Operations, and Partner Success teams to establish a single, trusted source of truth. You will have the opportunity to showcase your expertise in analytics engineering, statistical analysis, and data storytelling by developing robust Looker dashboards and designing AI-augmented workflows with Large Language Models (LLMs). If you are passionate about diving deep into operational bottlenecks, optimising complex SQL queries, and championing proactive, data-driven decision-making, this role offers an exciting platform to drive tangible impact at the forefront of retail technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, deploy, and maintain robust, automated Looker dashboards and semantic models to serve as a single source of truth for global logistics.
  • Synthesise complex supply chain telemetry into highly intuitive visual narratives tracking critical KPIs like pick rates and inventory waste.
  • Partner deeply with Core Data Engineering teams to bridge the gap between raw data infrastructure and downstream analytics assets.
  • Write, audit, and optimise complex, high-throughput SQL scripts within Google BigQuery to ensure efficient compute utilisation.
  • Map, clean, and model data streams from legacy Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP tools, and tracking networks.
  • Conduct rigorous diagnostic analyses on product features and operational friction points to uncover the root causes of supply chain delays.
  • Deliver prescriptive, data-backed strategic recommendations to product and warehouse stakeholders to maximise daily stock throughput.
  • Define and track post-implementation metrics to validate and quantify efficiency gains from operational changes.
  • Apply advanced statistical methodologies (such as regression and time-series analysis) to detect trends, structural shifts, or anomalies.
  • Design, test, and embed AI-assisted analytical workflows using LLMs and prompt engineering to accelerate data discovery and streamline documentation.

What We’re Looking For Essential

  • At least 2 years of experience in a professional data analyst role.
  • A degree in a numerate discipline (such as mathematics, statistics, economics, data science) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Google BigQuery for complex data manipulation and extraction.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining dashboards in Looker (preferred) or equivalent BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong communication and data storytelling skills, with the ability to translate analytical findings into clear, actionable recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • A solid understanding of supply chain, logistics, or fulfilment operations, ideally within a high-volume e-commerce environment.
  • An analytical, problem-solving mindset with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment to resolve immediate data gaps.

Nice to Haves

  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience or interest in using AI tools (such as Claude) and prompt engineering to build out AI analytics workflows.
  • Basic scripting knowledge in Python for data cleaning or automation tasks.
