Barry Callebaut Manufacturing Iberica SA. is looking for a Customs Analyst EMEA to manage customs activities across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region. The role focuses on collecting and verifying documentation, ensuring timely reporting, and guiding business decisions on customs impact.

You will collaborate with external brokers, VAT analysts, and SSC Finance, supporting audits and new business flows while maintaining compliant customs processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in customs & trade with focus on compliance checks.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting/methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up new licenses and report to Customs Authorities.
  • Regulatory filing of excise and license reporting.
  • Perform post-close reviews and reconcile key accounts and reports.
  • Follow up Deferment Account and reconcile with import documents.
  • Verify and reconcile Customs Agent Invoices.
  • Identify and mitigate customs risks proactively.
  • Perform reconciliations on Customs/VAT flows (import/export).
  • Ensure compliance with all customs regulations for goods flow.

About the role:

The Customs Analyst EMEA performs Customs activities within EMEA region and is reporting to the Senior Manager Customs and Trade Europe. In this role, you'll be responsible for collecting and verifying customs documentation and flows, helping to improve processes and minimize customs-related risks. Compliance is an important part of the position, including supporting customs audits, ensuring timely reporting to customs authorities, and providing guidance on the customs impact of business decisions. Building strong relationships with external customs brokers will also be key. Additionally, the jobholder will have a central role in the quarterly pro-active controls of the documentation chain from export documentation till VAT declaration. This function will work in close collaboration with the Customs authorities, EMEA VAT analysts, External brokers and SSC Finance departments. This function will be informed and support in projects (new business flows, eg. Brexit, brokerage improvements, AEO processes, …) in order to make sure that Customs flows are correctly maintained.

Key responsibilities:
  • Follow-up new licenses & reporting to Customs Authorities
  • Regulatory filing of excise and license reporting
  • Perform post-close reviews, supervise closing tasks, and review key accounts and reports
  • Follow-up Deferment Accont and reconciliation with import Docs
  • Verification and reconciliation Customs Agent Invoice
  • Proactive identification of Customs risks and mitigation strategies
  • Perform reconciliations on Customs / VAT flows (import and export)
  • Ensure full compliance with all Customs regulations for goods flow & ensure internal processes are Customs compliant
  • Support in the AEO (BE & UK) compliance obligations
About you:
  • minimum Bachelor's degree in the relevant field (customs, finance, tax…) or by experience
  • Experience in customs & trade, by preference as analyst knowing how to handle compliance checks
  • Knowledge of controlling and financial methodologies/reporting
  • Achievement, motivation, initiative, experience, and judgment.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite: Excel and Word, One drive
  • Knowledge of EU import and export declarations
  • knowledge of customs declaration tools/software
  • Experience with reconciliation methodologies
  • Adaptable and resilient
  • Strong Analytical skills (dealing with big data and able to find/track the 'needles' in the big data)
