Duties

Operation of Cutting Equipment

• Safely operate concrete saws, including walk-behind saws, wall saws, and hand-held saws, to cut concrete slabs, walls, and other structures according to project specifications.
• Select and install appropriate blades and attachments based on the material and cutting requirements.

Site Preparation

• Prepare job sites by setting up cutting equipment, ensuring all tools are in good working condition, and verifying that work areas are clean and free from hazards.
• Mark cutting lines and measurements accurately, ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.

Quality Control

• Monitor the cutting process to ensure that cuts are executed accurately and meet quality standards.
• Inspect finished cuts for precision and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors immediately.

Safety Compliance

• Follow all safety regulations and practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety goggles, and hearing protection.
• Participate in safety training and meetings to stay informed about best practices and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

• Perform routine maintenance on cutting equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and sharpening blades.
• Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, reporting any malfunctions to supervisors for timely repairs.

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with other construction team members, including laborers and foremen, to coordinate activities and meet project deadlines.
• Communicate effectively regarding project progress, challenges, and any changes in work scope or procedures.

Site Cleanup

• Ensure that job sites are cleaned up at the end of each workday, removing debris and hazardous materials.
• Dispose of waste materials in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in concrete cutting or a related field is preferred.
• Prior experience as a concrete saw operator or in a similar role in the construction industry is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in operating various types of concrete cutting equipment.
