Job summary

Grandmaraisgolf is seeking a skilled concrete finisher to join our construction team. The role focuses on smoothing and finishing surfaces, preparing concrete mixes, and setting forms to create strong, lasting slabs.

You will work with cement, water, and aggregates, ensure proper timing, and perform surface treatments and basic masonry tasks. Physical stamina and the ability to work at heights, multitask, and keep tools organized are essential.

Responsibilities

• Smooth and finish concrete surfaces to a durable, aesthetically pleasing finish.
• Check forms, mix concrete, and set/align forms with proper ratios; prepare cement-water-aggregate mixtures.
• Remove contaminants and perform surface treatments to ensure high-quality cement surfaces.
• Masonry work on floors, sidewalks, curbs; align forms, patch voids, and cut expansion joints; work with other trades.

Job description

A concrete finisher is a skilled tradesperson who works in the construction industry to smooth and finish concrete surfaces.

Duties

• Checking concrete forms, mixing concrete, and setting and aligning forms, preparation of a mixture of cement (10-15%) and water (15-20%) make a paste. mix with aggregates (65-75%) such as sand and gravel, or crushed stone. As the cement and water mix, harden and bind the aggregates into an impenetrable rock-like mass.

Concrete finishing

• Creating a smooth, durable surface we need a good concrete finish. concrete mixtures and timing is crucial as we need to pay close attention to the condition of the concrete. Improper finishing techniques can lead to a weak, damaged or unattractive slab.

Surface treatments

• Remove grease, oil, chemicals, and other contaminants from the concrete surface. High-pressure washing can remove chemicals and oils, while a degreaser and floor polisher can remove dirt and grime. thus surface treatment is crucial to create quality cement walls or repairing it.

Masonry work

• Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, walks, sidewalks, roads, or curbs using a variety of hand and power tools. Align forms for sidewalks, curbs, or gutters; patch voids; and use saws to cut expansion joints.
