Job summary

Siemens Energy in Poland seeks a skilled professional to support our HVDC Protection Team. You will test and verify hardware and software for HVDC projects, ensuring function and quality across test centers and customer sites worldwide.

Responsibilities include commissioning measuring and protection systems, performing Functional and Dynamic Performance Tests, tracing bugs, and supporting quality and risk management in improvement programs.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering, energy technology or comparable qualification.
• Experience with HVDC systems and commissioning is preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Advance energy transition by bringing HVDC projects to successful completion with customers.
• Be part of Integration Testing and carry out Functional Tests of control & protection hardware and software in a test center.
• Independently trace bugs and support Software Engineering in debugging.
• Execute and document Functional and Dynamic Performance Tests of the HVDC system, including Customer Acceptance Tests.
• Commission Measuring System, DC Protection System and Transient Fault Recorder at customer sites worldwide.
• Support Commissioning Management in Quality, Risk and Claim Management and participate in improvement programs.

A Snapshot of Your Day

In our HVDC Protection Team, we are testing and verifying the hardware and software for our innovative HVDC Projects in our Test Center and ensure proper functionality and good quality of our HVDC Plants worldwide during commissioning. Our diverse and multinational teams are working closely together with project management, engineering as well as with end customers to provide customized solutions based on the latest innovations in HVDC technology.

How You’ll Make An Impact

• You actively advance the Energy Transition by bringing our HVDC projects to a successful completion with our customers
• You are part of a project team in Integration Testing and you carry out Functional Tests of the Control & Protection hardware and software in one of our test centers
• You independently trace bugs and support our Software Engineering in debugging
• You are responsible for the execution and documentation of the Functional Performance Tests (FPT) and Dynamic Performance Tests (DPT) of the HVDC System, including Customer Acceptance Tests in one of our test centers
• You are responsible for the commissioning of the Measuring System, the DC Protection System and the Transient Fault Recorder for our HVDC Projects as a part of a highly motivated team, at our customers sites worldwide
• You support our Commissioning Management in Quality, Risk and Claim Management and you actively participate in our improvement programs

What You Bring

• Completed degree in electrical engineering, energy technology or comparable education / qualification
• Good knowledge in one or more of the following areas: project planning and testing via MATLAB/SIMULINK, Siemens SIMATIC TDC/S7, CFC, grid protection systems
• Knowledge or ideally working experience in the field of Electrical Engineering and Commissioning of Electrical Power Stations or HVDC Systems
• Expertise in Current- and Voltage Measuring devices and other primary equipment
• Fluent English language skills, additional languages are a plus
• Willingness for worldwide business trips and mainly long-term assignments on construction sites in Germany and abroad, as well as optional assignments on offshore platforms
