FormativGroup is seeking an experienced Cloud Solutions Architect to design and deliver secure and scalable cloud solutions. This remote role requires 8+ years in software engineering and 4+ years on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

The compensation range is $140,000 to $180,000 USD, with additional bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.

Overview

The role of the experienced Cloud Solutions Architect is to design, lead, and deliver secure, scalable, and cost‑effective cloud solutions. Partners closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and leadership to define cloud architectures that support application modernization, data platforms, and enterprise integrations across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.

Responsibilities

• Design end‑to‑end cloud architectures aligned with business and technical requirements.
• Define cloud reference architectures, patterns, and best practices.
• Lead solution design for cloud‑native, hybrid, and multi‑cloud environments.
• Evaluate cloud services and recommend optimal designs for performance, security, and cost.
• Architect and support application and data migrations to the cloud.
• Guide modernization initiatives including re‑hosting, re‑platforming, and re‑architecting.
• Design solutions leveraging cloud‑native services such as containers, serverless, and managed platforms.

Security, Governance & Reliability

• Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and governance standards.
• Design for high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and resiliency.
• Partner with security teams on identity, access management, and data protection.

Delivery & Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work closely with engineering teams to ensure successful implementation of designs.
• Participate in architecture reviews, technical decision‑making, and delivery planning.
• Communicate architecture decisions, trade‑offs, and roadmaps to technical and executive audiences.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure, or solution architecture.
• 4+ years of hands‑on experience architecting solutions on AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
• Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, and platform services.
• Experience with application architecture, integration patterns, and APIs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of data platforms, analytics, or integration middleware.
• Cloud certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or equivalent).

Technical Skills

• Networking: VPC/VNet, load balancing, connectivity.
• Security: IAM, encryption, network security.
• Architecture documentation and modeling tools.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Confident presenter with executive‑level communication skills.

Location & Eligibility

This is a remote role. Candidates must reside in one of the following U.S. states: AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, TN, TX, VA, WI, and Washington DC. Candidates outside these states are not eligible.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation range: $140,000 - $180,000 USD. In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses, commissions, or other incentive programs, as well as a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, etc.
