Job summary

Alfa is seeking a Systems Engineer (Technical Operations) to own and enhance the cloud infrastructure, including AWS, VMware and Okta, across global offices. Based in Gdańsk, you will lead project-based work, drive integrations with internal systems, and ensure secure, scalable operations.

You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams, document changes, and mentor colleagues. The role offers flexible hybrid working, generous leave, private medical insurance and professional development support,

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a systems engineering, infrastructure or IT operations role in an organisation of a similar size.
• Degree-level technical IT knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with at least four of: AWS, VMware, Okta, Azure/M365, Active Directory, Exchange, Google Workspace, Splunk, Windows or Linux server management, Terraform, Ansible, containerisation, process automation tooling or core network infrastructure.
• Okta or identity management experience that goes beyond adding users; configuration, integrations with other internal systems and ideas for improvement.
• Cloud infrastructure experience, particularly AWS, and an interest in bringing hybrid and VMware environments together into well-managed cloud infrastructure
• A track record of delivering planned, process-driven changes – designing, building and testing solutions until they’re ready to hand over
• Strong independent problem-solving and a strategic mindset: you look at the bigger picture and focus on work that adds lasting value
• Solid networking fundamentals

Responsibilities

• Own and shape cloud infrastructure strategy, integrating AWS and VMware into a unified platform.
• Troubleshoot escalations from Service Desk; ensure patches, capacity and scale planning.
• Lead Okta integrations with internal systems (HRIS, etc.) and improve identity workflows.
• Design, build and test process-driven changes; document SOPs and hand over to ops.
• Collaborate across global teams and external vendors on projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices across the team.
