Job summary

SoftwareMind is seeking an experienced Android developer to join a global project delivering native iOS and Android applications within a dedicated mobile team. You will help rebuild travellers' apps for the Subscriber Portal, focusing on speed, security, and accessibility while supporting multilingual features and enterprise-grade authentication.

You will collaborate with product, design and backend teams, contribute to unit/UI tests, CI/CD pipelines and take ownership of features end-to-end in

• 5+ years of experience developing native Android apps with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Experience implementing location services and push notifications.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0/OIDC, session management and secure credential storage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the native Android application using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Collaborate with product managers, backend developers, designers and stakeholders on requirements and estimates.
• Ensure the app is user-friendly, responsive, and scales across devices.
• Optimise for speed, stability and security; implement authentication and secure storage.

Project - the aim you'll have

This project is for a global leader in medical and travel security risk services, helping organisations protect their people wherever they work and travel. You'll join a dedicated mobile team rebuilding the client's traveller-facing apps, part of the Subscriber Portal, as fully native iOS and Android applications to replace the existing React Native versions. Travellers and expatriates use these apps to receive location-based medical and security alerts, access country risk information, check in, and contact 24/7 assistance centres with a single tap. The backend is already in place, allowing the team to focus on building a fast, secure and accessible native experience. When someone faces a crisis abroad, the app needs to work reliably when it matters most.

Role - how you'll contribute

• Develop and maintain the native Android application using the latest Kotlin and Jetpack Compose;
• Collaborate with product managers, backend developers, designers, and other stakeholders on requirements review, suggest solutions and estimate efforts to build user-friendly applications;
• Ensure that the mobile application is user friendly, efficient, and adaptive to different screen sizes and device models;
• Optimise the application for maximum speed, stability and scalability;
• Implement authentication, session management and secure data storage to enterprise security standards;
• Implement location-based features and location-triggered push notifications;
• Investigate and resolve production issues, including crash analysis, root cause analysis and hotfixes
• Implement app monitoring and analytics;
• Implement app localisation in multiple languages and accessibility support;
• Write and maintain unit and UI test cases, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines;
• Take ownership of features and modules end to end, review peers' code against team standards, and contribute to technical design discussions;
• Update internal knowledge base and operational documentation.

Expectations - the experience you need

• 5+ years of experience in developing native Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose;
• Experience implementing location services and push notifications;
• Experience with OAuth 2.0/OIDC, session management and secure credential storage;
• Experience integrating third-party libraries;
• Hands-on experience writing and maintaining unit and UI tests;
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Scrum practices;
• Proficiency in Jira and Confluence;
• Strong attention to detail, communication and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to continuous learning;
• English at C1 - the working language with the client.
