The European Category Manager Indirect Procurement is responsible for defining and executing procurement strategy for specific indirect category at a European level, in close coordination with regional operational teams and the European operational excellence function.
The role focuses on driving value through sourcing initiatives, optimizing supplier base, and ensuring effective category governance across areas such as facility management, transportation and/or other indirect spend categories.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies across selected indirect procurement categories (OpEx and CapEx), ensuring alignment with business priorities
- Lead and deliver sourcing projects across multiple categories (e.g. facility management, transportation, warehousing equipment, services, and related areas)
- Build and foster a strong European procurement community, engaging key stakeholders across regions and functions
- Establish and implement governance processes for sourcing and supplier selection activities
- Manage strategic supplier relationships and contracts, ensuring performance against agreed KPIs and continuous improvement
- Lead tenders and negotiations to secure optimal commercial and contractual conditions
- Deliver cost savings and value creation in line with category strategy targets
- Analyze spend data and market trends to support category planning and decision-making
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, innovation, and standardization across categories
- Monitor compliance with approved suppliers and framework agreements, addressing off-contract spend
- Provide market insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders to support strategic decision-making
Skills and Experience needed
- Holds a degree in business, finance or engineering, ideally with a postgraduate qualification in supply chain management
- At least 5 years of experience in procurement or operations within a similar field and proven experience in Indirect sourcing activities (FM/Transport) at a European level
- Experience in Facility management and/or transportation
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the FM/transport industry, including market trends and key suppliers
- Pragmatic and resilient, thriving in a dynamic and changing work environment and able to work with urgency
- Takes a focused approach to internal customers; going the extra mile to understand and meet customer expectations, taking initiative to propose improvements and build strong working relationships
