Job summary

AstraZeneca in Warsaw is seeking a Software Developer / Data Engineer to work across software development and data pipeline engineering. You will contribute to production systems powering early drug discovery, building APIs, data pipelines, and interfaces.

This hybrid role lets you deepen your expertise in your stronger area while expanding capabilities in the other, maintaining the scientific computing platform and building new capabilities with modern stacks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s with 5+ years or Master’s with 3+ years in professional software development.
• Strong Python proficiency for application development and data processing.
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines and ETL workflows at scale.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, data access layers.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, backend services, and integrating applications with data systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), Docker, and Git.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications including APIs, backends, and UIs for scientific workflows.
• Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code following modern software engineering practices.
• Build and integrate with databases and API layers for efficient data access.
• Maintain and enhance existing applications while developing new features.
• Build and maintain data processing pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and integration of scientific data.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers, participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Document architectural decisions and data workflows for maintainability.
• Support CI/CD and production deployments in collaboration with IT.
