Job summary

OLX is building scalable, cloud-based systems with a strong AI-driven mindset. You’ll work in a distributed team, contributing to a modern tech stack (Golang/Java/Kotlin/PHP) and database exposure (MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Memcached) on AWS.

This role emphasizes ownership, reliability, and collaboration across 50+ nationalities and markets. You’ll write prompts for multi-step tasks, maintain AI context, and help design robust cloud-native solutions while ensuring the product meets user needs.

Qualifications

• Solid software development experience in Go, Java/Kotlin, or PHP.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Memcached) and AWS.
• Ability to write structured prompts for multi-step tasks and manage AI context.
• Strong problem-solving with a user-first mindset and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute technically to projects and participate in planning, execution, and delivery of complex tasks.
• Establish credibility through high-quality technical execution by self and team.
• Leverage AI to accelerate delivery: generate tests/docs, debug, refactor, and own shipping code.
• Ask questions, brainstorm, and own the product you’re building with product management.
• Work closely with product management to build the best user-focused products.

As part of our 1,000+ tech team across multiple locations, you’ll collaborate with engineers, SREs, and product teams to build scalable, high-impact solutions, while reporting to an Engineering Manager who will support your growth and impact.

We use Golang and Kotlin, modernizing systems as we transition from legacy PHP and move towards a microservices architecture, deploying through GitLab CI/CD to AWS.

Who We Are Looking For

• Someone who embraces a “you build it, you run it, you own it” mindset — including for AI-generated output: you validate, refactor, and take full accountability
• An engineer with solid experience in software development, ideally with Golang, Java/Kotlin, or PHP
• Someone with experience in relational and non-relational databases (MySQL, DynamoDB, Redis, Memcached) and a good grasp of AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• A problem solver who approaches challenges with both a technical and user-first mindset to build impactful solutions
• You write structured prompts for multi-step tasks and maintain project-level AI context (CLAUDE.md / rules files) — you catch bugs and gaps in AI-generated output before it lands in production
• You demonstrate measurable judgment about when to use AI and when to override it — you use AI for debugging, performance analysis, and complex refactoring while owning the outcome
• A team player who is open to discussions, cross-team collaboration, and knowledge sharing

What You Will Be Doing

• Contribute technically to projects and take part in the planning, execution, and success of complex technical tasks
• Be an integral part of the team — establish credibility through the quality of your own and your team’s technical execution
• Use AI to accelerate delivery: delegate routine implementation, generate tests and documentation, and apply AI to debugging and refactoring — while owning every line that ships

• Work closely with product management to ensure you’re building the best products for users
