Ciklum is hiring for a backend engineer role in Poland, embedded in Trustpilot's feature team to develop scalable fraud-detection systems. You will work in a cross-functional squad, contributing to architecture decisions and end-to-end delivery of backend services in a remote-friendly setup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with backend focus.
• Hands-on AWS experience: API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB.
• Experience with event-driven microservices and Serverless Framework.
• Proficiency with DynamoDB and PostgreSQL databases.
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions; Docker and orchestration (ECS/Kubernetes).
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code preferred).
• Ability to own stories from inception to production with minimal supervision.
• Strong collaboration and willingness to pair with senior team members.

About the role:

In this role, you will be fully integrated into Trustpilot's feature team. You will join a cross-functional squad that takes ownership of its product area, collaborating closely with senior engineers while contributing your own voice to technical discussions and implementation choices.

This specific project enhances trust and transparency by detecting and preventing fraudulent activities, such as fake reviews, and ensuring policy compliance through AI, data analysis, and scalable fraud detection systems. Your work will directly influence the integrity of the platform for over 64 million monthly users!

Responsibilities:

• Collaborative Development: Work alongside Product, Design, Data Science, and senior backend engineers in a cross-functional squad that owns its product and codebase end-to-end
• System Implementation & Design: Partner with senior engineers to design backend services, and independently implement high-volume, scalable data processing solutions for fraud detection using TypeScript
• Growing Autonomy: Take on complex backend tasks alongside senior developers, transitioning over time into delivering end-to-end features and services with minimal day-to-day supervision
• Scale & Reliability: Build and maintain secure, distributed cloud services within an event-driven microservices architecture, focusing on code quality, testing, stability, and performance
• Lifecycle Ownership: Participate across the development lifecycle—from technical grooming and architecture discussions to deployment, monitoring, and production maintenance
• Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in constructive code reviews, incorporating architectural feedback from senior colleagues to elevate code health and engineering best practices

Requirements:

• Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a solid focus on backend engineering
• Cloud Infrastructure: Solid, hands-on experience with AWS services—including API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, SQS, SNS, and DynamoDB—utilizing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
• Architecture: Practical experience building and maintaining event-driven and microservice architectures, preferably using the Serverless Framework
• Databases: Solid proficiency with NoSQL (DynamoDB) and relational databases (PostgreSQL)
• DevOps & Tooling: Working experience with modern CI/CD pipelines (such as GitHub Actions), Docker, and container orchestration platforms (ECS or Kubernetes)
• AI-Assisted Development: Hands-on experience developing with AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate workflows and code delivery, with a strong preference for Claude Code
• Independence & Ownership: A proven track record of taking user stories and technical specs from inception to production release, proactively resolving blockers, and working with increasing self-direction
• Collaboration & Coachability: An eagerness to learn from and pair with senior team members, absorb architectural guidelines, and ask the right questions when tackling ambiguous technical challenges
