Offer Description

The position of Assistant in the Research and Teaching Group involves conducting scientific research in the field of medical sciences, developing research activities towards obtaining a doctoral degree, and conducting teaching activities in basic and preclinical sciences. The position also includes participation in the organizational activities of the University of Warsaw. Candidates are expected to hold a valid licence to practise medicine, a specialization in surgery, relevant clinical and teaching experience, and a documented scientific record, as well as fluent proficiency in Polish and English. Strong teaching, communication, organizational, and teamwork skills are also required.

Skills/Qualifications

• Conducting scientific research in the field of medical sciences, including R1 activities, until obtaining a doctoral degree.
• Conducting teaching activities in the field of basic and preclinical sciences at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Warsaw, including activities subject to child safeguarding and protection requirements.
• Participating in organizational activities for the benefit of the University of Warsaw.

Specific Requirements

• Meeting the requirements set out in Article 113 of the Act on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, consolidated text).
• A valid licence to practise medicine.
• A specialization in surgery and a second specialization currently in progress.
• Documented scientific achievements.
• A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience.
• Current, active professional experience minimum 5 years.
• Employment in a clinical department with a surgical profile.
• Declared fluent proficiency in Polish and English sufficient to conduct teaching activities.
• Teaching skills – the ability to communicate knowledge to students in a clear and inspiring manner.
• Dissemination of innovative teaching methods among academic teachers, including conducting classes, training sessions and professional development workshops.
• Professional experience.
• Participation as an author or co-author of scientific publications published in journals included on the list of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, with a total value of at least 200 points, or in journals indexed in databases with an Impact Factor (the so-called Philadelphia List); the required total number of points is at least 7.
• Communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

6. Additional education related to medical subjects, e.g. medical law.
