Job summary

DCG Poland is seeking an embedded software engineer to work on board bring-up, Linux kernel and driver development, HAL, and AOSP image building for Android devices in Warsaw. You will ensure hardware compliance through CTS, GTS, and VTS testing while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Candidate should have strong C/C++, C++, Java skills, Linux kernel expertise, and experience with Android build systems, Git/Gerrit, and debugging tools (JTAG, gdb, adb, fastboot).

Qualifications

• Proficient in C/C++ and Java with a focus on embedded systems.
• Strong knowledge of Linux kernel internals, memory management, and device trees.
• Experience with Android build systems, version control (Git, Gerrit), and low-level debugging tools.

Responsibilities

• Board bring-up: booting new custom hardware from scratch and configuring the bootloader.
• Kernel and driver development: customize Linux kernel and write/port device drivers.
• HAL implementation: create interface between Android framework APIs and hardware components.
• AOSP and image building: configure and build modular OS images.
• Testing and certification: conduct CTS, GTS, and VTS to meet hardware requirements.

Due to our ongoing growth and the large number of recruitment projects we undertake for our partners, we are currently looking for:

Responsibilities

• Board Bring-Up: Booting new custom hardware from scratch, initializing the bootloader, and configuring low-level firmware
• Kernel & Driver Development: Customizing the Linux Kernel and writing/porting device drivers for hardware peripherals (e.g., Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, displays, touchscreens, sensors, and cameras)
• HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) Implementation: Creating the interface that allows Android framework APIs to communicate with underlying hardware components securely
• AOSP & Image Building: Compiling and configuring the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to create modular OS images (such as boot.img, vendor.img, and system.img)
• Testing & Certification: Ensuring compliance with hardware requirements by running Google Mobile Services (GMS) certification tests (CTS, GTS, and VTS)

Requirements

• Programming Languages: C, C++, and Java
• Operating System Knowledge: Expert proficiency in Linux, including kernel internals, device trees, and memory management
• Build Systems: Hands‑on experience with Android Build System commands (e.g., lunch, m) and version control tools like Git and Gerrit
• Debugging Tools: Using JTAG, gdb, adb, and fastboot for low-level system troubleshooting
• Knowledge of Polish language
