Job summary

COWI in Poland seeks an Advanced Geotechnical Engineer to develop geotechnical designs for foundations, slopes, and tunnels, integrating soil-structure interaction.

You will plan site investigations, interpret lab results, and prepare client reports, while collaborating with structural engineers and using Plaxis, GeoStudio, and Rocscience. Requires a master's in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical) with 5+ years' experience and strong English; international travel possible.

Qualifications

• A master's or higher degree in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in slope stability analysis, settlement assessment, design of shallow foundations, deep foundations, deep excavation and usage of ground improvement techniques.
• Proficiency in industry-standard geotechnical analysis and design software such as Plaxis 2D/3D, GeoStudio, and Rocscience.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering.
• Familiarity with data management tools (HoleBASE, OpenGround, gINT) and parametric design (Python, Rhino, Grasshopper).
• Professional proficiency in English (B2/C1) with flexibility for short international trips.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement geotechnical designs and engineering solutions for structures like foundations, retaining structures, slopes, and tunnels, including complex soil-structure interactions
• Plan and coordinate geotechnical site investigations and prepare lab testing programmes for soil and rock samples
• Interpret laboratory testing on soil and rock samples to determine their engineering properties and behavior
• Interpret data from site investigation and analyze their impact on proposed construction projects
• Prepare comprehensive reports summarizing findings, observations, and recommendations for clients and project teams
• Guide digital and data-driven project delivery, integrating modern geotechnical software and parametric tools
• Collaborate with structural engineers and other professionals to integrate geotechnical requirements into project plans and designs
• Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and technological advancements in geotechnical engineering

We are a team of professionals working alongside our customers on some of the nation’s most innovative projects in geotechnical engineering. Furthermore, on a day-to-day basis you will:
