Job description

As an Accounting Expert for Poland, you’ll be responsible for ensuring that the organization’s financial operations are well-managed, compliant, and transparent. You’ll contribute to overall business success in line with H&M Group policies and local regulations.

You will:

  • Provide financial reporting and analysis by ensuring accurate and timely completion of financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Secure there is a backup process in place for all finance-related operations/local gap, establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
  • Prepare financial insights, support decision-making, and collaborate on projects and initiatives that have financial implications.
  • Review journal entries, reconcile accounts, and verify the accuracy of financial transactions and monitor the general ledger for any discrepancies or errors and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Liquidity Guarantee tax and VAT payments according to legal demands. Generate cash flow forecast and ensure liquidity by monitoring and managing cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for daily operations and strategic investments.
  • Optimize liquidity according to H&M financial policy and initiate actions.
  • Ensure corporate tax and VAT declaration and payments.
  • Secure Year-end corporate tax calculation.
  • Secure high level of accounting operations and take a corporate responsibility for daily operations within accounting by involving in the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, leading accountants, ensuring efficient workflow, timely completion of tasks, and adherence to accounting principles and standards and participating in continuous improvements to enhance financial reporting capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance – making sure that all financial statements and practices undergo scrutiny to uphold transparency and compliance with laws and regulations by providing compliance with accounting principles and provide accurate financial information for decision-making, maintaining existing internal accounting policies and creating new policies as needed and staying updated on accounting regulations and standards, such as generally accepted accounting principles and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Asses financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the financial stability of the organization.
  • Coordinating and completing annual statutory, customs and tax audits, provide recommendations, improve procedures and initiate corrective actions and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Implement and follow control procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in local regulatory requirements, such as tax laws, financial reporting standards, and industry-specific regulations. Enhance way of working and local procedures to meet updated requirements.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll collaborate with different departments and work closely with local accounting seniors in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, ensuring effective cross-collaboration with the shared service center. In addition, you will work with other accounting managers, seniors, and experts across countries in HUB East Europe, ensuring high-quality collaboration for accurate, compliant, and efficient HUB accounting processes.

WHO YOU ARE

We are looking for people with…

  • Around 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in retail business or a similar sector (FMCG).
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken (other language skills will be an additional asset).
  • Proficient in accounting software, preferably SAP and Trintech Cadency.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a preference for a master’s degree combined with equivalent experience in accounting.
