Overview

For Linklaters Office in Warsaw, we are currently recruiting for the Accounting Assistant role to support London Finance Team. You will work closely with both the local Warsaw team and our wider Finance network, benefiting from strong professional support and a shared commitment to excellence. Our team culture is rooted in collaboration, integrity, and continuous improvement. This position provides exposure to international accounting processes and a clear development path towards becoming an Accountant within our Global Finance Team.

Your key responsibilities

Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Provides support to the local accounting advisors and managers and performs ad hoc analysis as required.
  • Assists with finance support to Business Team functions and ensures the accurate and timely recording of transactions relating to specific business areas.
  • Assists with advising business areas of their financial position through preparation of variance analysis and commentary.

Month-end & Year-end Support

  • Delivers local month-end and year-end close processes, calculates and posts all required entries, and ensures complete, accurate and timely financial reporting.

Budgeting & Project Accounting

  • Supports the annual budgeting process including for business team function headcount and expenditure, LON practice and business team salary uploads, global projects spend and depreciation.
  • Provides support on accounting and reporting of global projects. Including setting up and closing projects in SAP, preparing monthly variance reports for individual project managers, review of smaller business cases, guidance to project managers on revenue/capital splits and coding, following up issues, assisting in the preparation of monthly variance reports for the Strategic and Tech Portfolio Managers.
  • Assists in the maintenance, accuracy and completeness of the FAR, general ledgers and reconciliations. Including the review of the general ledger postings to ensure that the Firm’s accounting policies are being applied. Review of the monthly depreciation charge. Preparation of the annual depreciation budget and reforecast of depreciation. Preparing the year end fixed assets audit file - ensure there is sufficient backup information to support the fixed asset entries in the accounts. Preparation of the annual roll forward of the FAR.
  • Assists in completing mandatory government monthly, quarterly and annual returns.

Audit & Compliance Support

  • Assists in the annual external audit, compiling necessary documentation and responding to auditor queries.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual financial statements.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • You may be a good fit if you have experience in financial or management accounting support roles in a global professional services firm, preferably in the legal sector.
  • Demonstrated ability to support local and global finance activities, including transaction recording, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Experience assisting in month-end and year-end close processes, including posting entries and preparing reconciliations.
  • Familiarity with supporting budgeting processes, external audits, and government returns, including document preparation and compliance tracking.
  • Proven ability to maintain the integrity of financial records across general ledgers, fixed asset registers, and project-based accounting.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, able to manipulate and analyse data confidently
  • Hold an accounting qualification (part-qualified or actively studying towards one)
  • Experience with SAP or similar finance systems is an advantage
