Job description

We are looking for a Technology Consultant with strong expertise in PHP (Laravel) and Python, and significant experience in architecting and scaling backend systems in the fintech sector. This leadership role will oversee the entire engineering function, ensuring our systems remain robust, secure, and scalable to support our expanding operations.

You will set the technical vision, manage engineering teams, collaborate with stakeholders across the business, and ensure successful delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical vision and architecture for Kabayan Remit’s platform.
• Oversee the design and development of backend services built with PHP (Laravel) and Python.
• Ensure high standards in API architecture, security, and system scalability.
• Lead efforts to optimise MySQL/MongoDB and Redis databases for performance and reliability.
• Manage integrations with payment gateways and financial institutions.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Compliance, and Operations teams to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Guide and mentor engineering teams, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
• Establish and enforce secure coding practices and compliance with financial regulations (e.g. PCI DSS, GDPR).
• Drive DevOps initiatives, improving CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Oversee monitoring, incident management, and system reliability processes.

Requirements

• Technical Leadership
• 8+ years of experience in backend engineering, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management role.
• Deep expertise in PHP (Laravel) and Python development.
• Strong experience in designing and scaling RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
• Advanced knowledge of MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
• Proven experience with AWS cloud services, infrastructure, and cost optimisation.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern deployment pipelines.
• Excellent understanding of secure coding and compliance in financial services.
