We are searching for a Tax Associate with deep technical expertise in U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance, coupled with proven team leadership abilities. This is a permanent Night Shift leadership position aligned with U.S. CST business hours, operating out of our Karachi office.
The ideal candidate will possess an advanced technical background in U.S. tax law, extensive hands‑on experience reviewing complex tax returns, and a track record of driving operational excellence, mentoring team members, and working seamlessly with U.S.-based clients and executives. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review complex U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns for Individuals (Form 1040, 1040-NR) and Business Entities (Form 1120, 1120-S, 1065).
- Prepare relevant international tax forms and disclosures.
- Manage state income/franchise tax returns, multi‑state apportionment, and sales & use tax compliance.
- Conduct technical research on complex tax issues.
- Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments and extension requests for both individual and corporate clients.
- Draft responses to inquiries and notices from the IRS and state tax authorities, assisting with tax audits and resolution of tax disputes.
- Collaborate closely with accounting leads to manage book‑to‑tax adjustments, complex trial balance reconciliations, and ensure financial statements align perfectly with U.S. tax reporting standards.
- Drive team productivity during peak filing seasons, establish quality control checklists, and mentor junior tax preparers to elevate overall department accuracy.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; ACCA, or CA qualifications are highly preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of direct U.S. tax compliance and reporting experience within a public accounting firm, US‑facing BPO, or corporate tax setting.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Internal Revenue Code (IRC), and bookkeeping principles.
- Proven experience working with professional U.S. tax software and cloud accounting platforms.
- Impeccable written English for drafting professional tax memos, client emails, and IRS response letters.
- Clear, articulate verbal English for seamless collaboration with U.S.-based teams, stakeholders, or clients.
- An absolute commitment to accuracy; tax filings carry significant legal and financial consequences, making precision and attention to detail paramount.
