Job summary

Kent State University seeks a Director of Finance and Business Operations to lead financial management and administration for one or more academic units with large operating budgets. You will oversee budget preparation, forecasting, reporting, and strategic resource allocation.

Reporting to the Dean, you will supervise unclassified staff, coordinate HR processes, manage IT and capital budgeting, and partner with institutional research to analyze trends and mitigate risks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or relevant field required.
• Six years’ budget and financial experience in a higher education or similar complex organization.

Responsibilities

• Direct budget preparation and management for multiple units.
• Develop and maintain budgeting systems and forecast worksheets.
• Advise Dean on financial impact of personnel actions and staffing.
• Oversee procurement, contracts, and financial databases.
• Prepare financial reports and support strategic financial planning.
