Job summary

Emumba Inc., Islamabad, Pakistan, seeks a Staff Backend Engineer to design and build robust, scalable distributed systems in Python. You will develop cloud-native services in an AWS environment, focusing on backend fundamentals, performance, and security.

Responsibilities include implementing event-driven components with queues and pub/sub, building data pipelines, RESTful APIs with Flask or FastAPI, and applying IAM, encryption and authentication (OAuth/JWT).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Python backend development experience
• Experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Experience with asynchronous/concurrent programming
• Strong testing and debugging skills across distributed architectures

Responsibilities

• Build backend logic for event-driven systems using message queues and pub/sub
• Manage concurrent tasks in distributed environments using asynchronous programming
• Design data processing pipelines across cloud storage, compute, and databases
• Optimize applications for performance and scalability through caching, async calls, and latency reduction
• Design and develop serverless applications and RESTful APIs using Flask or FastAPI
• Follow cloud security best practices (IAM, encryption, network isolation), and implement authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT, or managed identity services)
