Software Engineering Associate Advisor - HIH - Evernorth

Position Overview

A Business Analysis Associate Advisor acts as the bridge between business stakeholders and development teams, ensuring that technical solutions align with business goals. Unlike traditional Product Owners, BA(TPOs) possess deeper technical knowledge, enabling them to make informed decisions about architecture, integrations, and system capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Define and communicate the product vision and strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and prioritize product requirements.
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for development teams.
  • Manage and maintain the product backlog, ensuring clarity and prioritization.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, designers, and QA.
  • Lead sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure agile delivery.
  • Monitor product performance and user feedback to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely delivery of product features and enhancements.
  • Contributes to peer reviews by enforcing coding standards and modeling at the design/lower level
  • Contributes to (supports) Unit and System (functional) test planning, data setup, and execution.
  • Contributes to the solution for testing issues.
  • Contributes to solving post-delivery production issues.
  • Responsible for working with the scrum teams to solve production issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Certification in Product Ownership or Agile methodologies (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PO/PM).
  • 8 - 11 years of experience in technical project delivery.
Required Skills and Tools
  • Experience in the healthcare industry, with understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with Mainframe systems like COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, IMS DB/DC.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with an onshore/offshore model.
  • Aptitude for gaining deep knowledge of industry and business, and proactively using this knowledge to deliver meaningful results.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal/relationship management skills.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Adept problem‑solving, influencing and critical‑thinking skills.
  • Ability to execute with limited information and ambiguity.
  • Strong requirements elicitation, gathering, and documentation skills, at business, functional, and technical levels.
  • Technical acumen with the ability to translate business needs into technical language and vice versa.
  • Familiarity with modern delivery practices such as continuous integration, behavior/test‑driven development, and specification by example.
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with both technical and non‑technical partners.
  • Excellence in analysis including Data Models, Data analysis, and Data Mapping.
  • General intrinsic curiosity as it relates to technical solutions.
  • Experience in Agile tools (JIRA), collaboration tools (Confluence, SharePoint), Visio, ticketing systems (ServiceNow).
  • Experience with Agile development; Agile certification is a plus (i.e. SAFe Product Manager / Product Owner).
  • Experience in API Standards, Microservices Architecture and Cloud capabilities.
  • Experience in RESTful APIs and SOAP services and message formats such as JSON and XML.
