Job description

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Java Backend Engineer with 3–4 years of hands-on experience to join our growing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, backend application development, and database integration.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining scalable backend services while working closely with frontend developers, QA engineers, product managers, and other technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs supporting web and mobile applications.
• Develop backend components following clean code, SOLID principles, design patterns, and industry best practices.
• Integrate applications with relational databases, external systems, and third-party services.
• Write efficient SQL queries and optimize database interactions where required.
• Implement and maintain authentication and authorization mechanisms for backend services.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application and production issues.
• Analyze and optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving coding standards and development practices.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features.
• Support application deployments and troubleshoot issues across development, QA, and production environments.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Participate in technical discussions, solution design, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow Agile/Scrum practices and actively participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

Requirements:

Must-Have Skills :

Backend Development – Primary Focus

• 3–4 years of professional experience in Java backend development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of Core Java, including:
• Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
• Collections
• Exception handling
• Multithreading/concurrency
• Java 8+ features and best practices
• Hands-on experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Good understanding of the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Dependency Injection, and related components.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed application concepts.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle and/or MySQL.
• Good understanding of SQL, database design, joins, indexing, and query optimization.
• Experience with authentication and authorization, preferably OAuth2, JWT, or WSO2.
• Good understanding of Git and version-control workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Exposure to Docker and containerization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with messaging/event-driven platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.
• Understanding of application logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Experience integrating backend services with external/third-party systems.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
