Qualifications

• 3–5 years of backend development experience.
• Hands-on with Node.js, Express and PostgreSQL.
• Ability to read large codebases.
• Maintenance of live systems and brownfield projects.
• Experience with migrations and rollback procedures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain back-end services using Node.js and Express.
• Design and optimize PostgreSQL SQL queries and migrations.
• Build and integrate REST APIs and troubleshoot issues.
• Use Git for version control and participate in code reviews.
• Support deployments and monitor in Linux environments (systemd, logs).
• Test changes before deployment and adhere to migration/rollback processes.
• Work under least-privilege access and avoid direct production access.

Job description

We are seeking a disciplined Back-end Developer to build, maintain, and support production applications. The role requires hands-on experience with Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL, including writing SQL and managing database migrations. The successful candidate will work carefully within established testing, deployment, access control, and rollback procedures

Job Description:

• Develop and maintain back-end services using Node.js and Express.
• Design database queries, write SQL directly, and prepare and review PostgreSQL migrations.
• Build and integrate REST APIs and troubleshoot application issues.
• Use Git for version control and follow the team’s code review process.
• Support deployments and investigate issues using Linux tools, systemd services, and application logs.
• Test changes before deployment and follow documented migration and rollback procedures.
• Work within a least-privilege access model and comply with restrictions on direct production access.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly, reviewing and testing any generated code before use.

Job Specification:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.

Experience: Preferably 3–5 years of relevant back-end development experience, including hands-on work with Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL

• Comfort with reading an existing large codebase is essential
• Maintenance and extension of live system, ready to work on a brown field project.
• New projects and requirements will keep on coming from time to time, as per organizational requirements.
