Master Group is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Back-end Developer) to design, develop, test, and maintain reliable backend services and business applications. The role emphasizes strong Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL, and direct SQL development, including migrations.

Qualifications

Job description

The Senior Software Engineer (Back-end Developer) will design, develop, test, and maintain reliable back-end services and business applications. The role requires strong hands-on experience with Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL, and direct SQL development, including database migrations.

This position also involves coordinating the development team, working with business stakeholders, maintaining technical documentation, and reporting progress to senior management. The successful candidate will bring a disciplined approach to production work: testing before deployment, following migration and rollback procedures, and working within a strict least-privilege access model with no direct production access.

Job Description

• Develop, maintain, and improve back-end applications and services using Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, manage database changes, and prepare and test migrations with documented rollback procedures.
• Design and integrate REST APIs and contribute to solutions based on cloud-native and microservices architectures.
• Use Git for version control and follow the team’s code review, testing, and release procedures.
• Support deployments and troubleshoot application issues using Linux server fundamentals, including systemd services and log analysis, through approved access and deployment processes.
• Take responsibility for the quality of delivered work by validating business requirements, testing changes, resolving defects, and monitoring performance and efficiency.
• Coordinate the development team’s work, track progress and risks, and provide clear updates to senior management.
• Work with business teams to gather and analyze requirements, estimate timelines, document agreed functionality, and coordinate delivery.
• Create and maintain clear code, API, deployment, and product documentation.
• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly, reviewing and testing all resulting code before it is adopted.

Job Specification

Education:Computer Sciences or Software Engineering from any reputable university (16 years of education)

Experience:Five to Six years of relevant experience at some well known organization

• Understanding and exposure of the solutions & tools and experience in development and system administration.
• Comfort with reading an existing large codebase and taking it forward is essential
• Ready to start working on a brown field project.
• Ready to plan and design any new solution. New projects and requirements will keep on coming from time to time, as per organizational requirements.
