Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Senior Java Backend Engineer with 5–6 years of hands‑on experience to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, backend application development, database integration, and enterprise application development.

The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, reviewing, and maintaining scalable backend services and applications. The role also requires the ability to contribute to technical design discussions, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide technical guidance to other team members.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain robust backend services and enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design, develop, integrate, and maintain RESTful APIs supporting web and mobile applications.
• Participate in system and solution design and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Develop scalable and maintainable solutions following clean code, SOLID principles, design patterns, and industry best practices.
• Integrate backend applications with relational databases, external systems, and third‑party services.
• Design efficient database interactions and optimize SQL queries and database performance.
• Implement and maintain secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, integration, and production issues.
• Analyze and optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Conduct and participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior and mid-level developers.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, product managers, and other technical teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Support application deployments and troubleshoot issues across development, QA, and production environments.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, technical discussions, and retrospectives.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvements, automation, and process optimization's.

Requirements

Must‑Have Skills

Backend Development – Primary Focus

• 5–6 years of professional experience in Java backend development.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Strong understanding of Core Java, including:
• Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP)
• Collections and Generics
• Multithreading and concurrency
• Java 8+ features and best practices
• Strong experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Good understanding of the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Dependency Injection, and related components.
• Good understanding and practical experience with microservices architecture and distributed application concepts.
• Strong hands‑on experience with relational databases, preferably Oracle and/or MySQL.
• Strong understanding of SQL, database design, joins, indexing, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Experience implementing authentication and authorization, preferably using OAuth2, JWT, or WSO2.
• Strong understanding of Git and version‑control workflows.
• Good understanding of software development lifecycle and enterprise application development practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem‑solving skills.

Good‑to‑Have Skills

• Experience with WSO2 or similar API management/integration platforms.
• Experience with Docker and containerization.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and deployment pipelines.
• Experience with messaging and event‑driven platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Exposure to NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito, or other unit‑testing frameworks.
• Understanding of application logging, monitoring, and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience integrating backend services with external/third‑party systems.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior developers.
