Job summary
SenecaGlobal, Inc. seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. The role balances 50% development and 50% DevOps, focusing on Azure-based backend services and modernizing monoliths into microservices.
You will design, deploy, and monitor scalable systems using .NET, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and container technologies like Docker/AKS, with heavy emphasis on infrastructure as code and observability.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of software engineering experience with backend and platform focus.
- Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, ARM or Pulumi.
- Strong .NET/C# development for production backends.
- Microservices architecture and monolith-to-microservices experience.
- EF Core experience with migrations and query optimization.
- SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL design and performance work.
- Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines built from scratch.
- Contract-first API/service design before implementation.
- AI tools usage in daily development (Claude/Copilot/Cursor).
- Ability to re-architect systems independently without relying on current team.
- Version control, testing frameworks, CI/CD workflows, end-to-end ownership.
- Experience collaborating with multinational, cross-functional teams.
- High-trust, accountability and transformation mindset.
Responsibilities
- Re-architect existing systems or codebases independently using transition architecture principles.
- Lead decomposition of monoliths into microservices with defined boundaries and data contracts.
- Design, implement, monitor and debug .NET/C# backend services across full lifecycle.
- Build and extend Entity Framework services with migrations and optimization.
- Manage cloud infra using Azure Bicep, ARM, Terraform or equivalents.
- Build and maintain containerization and orchestration with Docker and AKS.
- Design event-driven integration using Kafka or Service Bus when needed.
- Maintain observability with tools like New Relic as applicable.
- Possess 50/50 split between .NET development and DevOps responsibilities.
- Convert monoliths to microservices, containerize, and deploy to cloud autonomously.

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team, a team that builds and maintains the foundational services, tools, and workflows that every application team depends on to ship software faster and with confidence.
You will work at the intersection of software development and platform engineering, with a composition of 50% Development and 50% DevOps.
Our platform is built on Azure, Azure DevOps pipelines, .NET, SQL, and Angular. You will be expected to understand the full stack, reason for architectural trade-offs across it, and re-architect existing systems without requiring the development team to hold your hand.
- Re-architect existing systems or codebases independently using transition architecture principles.
- Lead incremental decomposition of monolithic applications into microservices, including service boundaries, data contracts and migration sequencing.
- Design, implement, monitor and debug .NET/C# backend services across the full lifecycle through production observability.
- Build and extend Entity Framework services, managing schema migrations, query optimization and ORM configuration across SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Author, review and maintain cloud infrastructure using Azure Bicep, ARM templates, Terraform or equivalent.
- Build & maintain containerization, orchestration solutions using Docker and AKS.
- Design event-driven integration using Kafka/Service Bus/Event Grid where required.
- Design, maintain observability monitoring including New Relic where applicable.
- We are looking for candidates/profiles with the combination of .Net Development (50%) + DevOps (50%) at a Senior Developer or above experience.
- Should be able to convert Monolithic application to Microservices by doing required code changes, containerize and deploy to Cloud by setting up the network and everything on his own.
- 10+ years of overall software engineering experience with a strong backend and platform engineering track record.
- Production-scale Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, ARM or Pulumi.
- Strong .NET and C# development experience building and operating production backend services.
- Microservices architecture expertise and hands-on monolith-to-microservices decomposition.
- Hands-on Entity Framework/EF Core experience including migrations and query optimization.
- SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL experience covering queries, schema design and performance optimization.
- Azure DevOps CI/CD building and maintaining pipelines from scratch.
- Specification-Driven Development designing APIs/services by contract before implementation.
- Daily professional use of Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor or equivalent AI development tools.
- Ability to re-architect existing systems independently without relying on the existing development team for context.
- Version control, testing frameworks, CI/CD workflows and end-to-end ownership.
- Experience collaborating with multinational, cross-functional engineering teams.
