Smart Working in Pakistan seeks a Senior ML Engineer to lead Applied AI, ML and MLOps, building and modernising an AI platform.

You will productionise models, improve NLP and generative AI systems, and create observable, scalable infrastructure for model integration and deployment.

The role emphasizes production quality, governance and safety, with strong backend engineering and cloud/API work.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional AI/ML experience with production deployment.
• 5+ years of professional MLOps experience.
• 2+ years of real Applied AI experience beyond experiments.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Proven productionising AI/ML applications and models.
• Experience with generative AI/LLMs and evaluation of grounding/hallucinations.
• Experience building ML pipelines and production architectures.
• Familiarity with governance, safeguards and data provenance.

Responsabilités

• Refactor, modernise and productionise existing ML models and Applied AI capabilities, including NLP and generative AI solutions.
• Build new ML components and re-engineer models into modular production-ready blocks.
• Develop production ML applications and services primarily using Python.
• Build and maintain reliable ML pipelines covering model integration, evaluation, deployment and operation.
• Engineer resilient ML workflows with retry logic and robust error handling.
• Design automated model evaluation pipelines using golden datasets and quality thresholds.
• Evaluate models using appropriate metrics for various outputs including generative AI.
• Implement guardrails to assess grounding and hallucination in AI outputs.
• Apply Applied AI techniques like RAG where appropriate.
• Design provenance for models, prompts and input data for auditability.
• Develop infrastructure for shadow testing, A/B testing, fallbacks and kill switches.
• Support labeling and curation of golden datasets for evaluation.
• Create human-in-the-loop feedback pipelines to improve datasets.
• Integrate third-party AI APIs and adapters, with observability and telemetry.
• Contribute backend engineering to reliably integrate ML components into the app.
• Support batch and real-time ML workloads as the platform evolves.
