Contour Software, a global centre with offices in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to maintain the general ledger and support financial processes. The role requires strong communication and analytical skills, with responsibilities spanning month-end reporting, reconciliations, and team leadership.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in finance, GAAP/IFRS knowledge, and proficiency in Excel/ERP tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field.
• Professional certifications preferred (ACCA/CMA/CPA).
• 5+ years in finance or accounting, with international exposure.
• GAAP and IFRS knowledge, including IFRS 15/16.

Role: Senior Financial Accountant

The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for accurately maintaining the general ledger, demonstrating a strong understanding of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other financial transactions, and bringing excellent communication, business and analytical skills. The role supports business operations, accounting policies, financial processes and accounting systems; it involves preparing reports and account reconciliations, consolidating month‑end reporting packages and assisting with month‑end financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly close procedures, including preparing and posting adjusting journal entries.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations.
• Research and resolve account discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Manage A/P inbox inquiries from internal stakeholders and vendors.
• Assist with monthly financial statement analysis and reporting on key variances.
• Assist with special projects as required.
• Consolidate balance sheet package overviews.
• Consolidate monthly reporting packages and provide monthly trend analysis.
• Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
• Meet processing and reporting deadlines.
• Lead and oversee the daily accounting activities of accountants and assistant accountants to ensure an efficient and well-coordinated workflow.
• Provide clear leadership, direction, and support to team members by sharing knowledge, answering questions and resolving accounting-related issues.
• Lead team activities to ensure alignment with monthly reporting deadlines and the company’s financial priorities.
• Assist the Senior Finance Manager as needed.
• Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
• Work closely with offshore teams across different time zones to ensure smooth coordination of financial tasks.

Professional Acumen

• The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors and internal customers while promoting a customer-service-oriented and positive finance team culture; experience in a multi‑location environment is a plus.
• Be proactive and eager to contribute, learn, ask thoughtful questions, and provide practical solutions. Maintain a continuous improvement mindset by identifying, reviewing, and implementing process improvements.

Education and Technical Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• ACCA, CMA, and/or CPA designation, or active progress toward completion, is preferred.
• Five or more years of experience in finance or accounting functions. Experience with an international company and prior exposure to team coordination or mentoring are considered assets.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, including IFRS 15 and IFRS 16.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel workbooks and PowerPoint.
• Experience with accounting technology, including automated solutions and ERP general ledger systems.
• Experience with Great Plains, Jedox, Concur, banking applications or similar programs is a plus.
• A thorough understanding of accounting guidance, including revenue recognition and acquisition accounting, is a plus.
• Ability to manage, develop and implement new processes aligned with best practices.
• Ability to plan, coordinate and support the month‑end close schedule, including timeline management and preparation of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Effective oral, written and business communication skills.
• Professional interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Detail‑oriented, with the ability to meet deadlines, multitask and work effectively in a rapidly changing environment.
