Job summary

The Vertical is seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician for Building Projects to oversee materials testing on site. The role requires performing field density tests, aggregate and cement/admixture testing, and supervising concrete operations to ensure compliance with project specs.

Qualifications

Diploma in Civil Engineering is required.
10+ years in construction materials testing is required.
Hands-on experience with building project labs is essential.
Proficiency in relevant testing standards and equipment is required.

Responsibilities

Conduct Field Density Tests (FDT) for soil compaction and subgrade verification.
Perform aggregate quality tests including sieve analysis, specific gravity, water absorption, crushing value, flakiness & elongation index, and moisture content.
Develop, review, and verify concrete mix designs; prepare trial mixes and adjust proportions for strength and workability.
Supervise concrete operations: batching, sampling, slump tests, cube/cylinder casting, curing, and compression testing.
Perform cement and admixture testing to verify material compliance.
Monitor rebar and structural steel sampling and coordinate with third‑party labs.
Ensure adherence to project specifications and safety protocols.
