Job summary

Careem Networks FZ LLC in Karachi is seeking a Senior Software Engineer I to own backend domains for the Quick and Shops stack, building scalable services in Golang and coordinating with mobile teams to ensure a seamless customer experience for millions of users.

You will design REST APIs, manage event-driven systems with Kafka, work with AWS, and mentor junior engineers while driving cross-team technical discussions and exploring AI-assisted tooling in daily workflows.

Qualifications

• Backend engineering experience at mid-band level or above; not entry-level.
• Hands-on Golang experience; other modern languages acceptable if ramp-up possible.
• Product-facing backend experience delivering end-customer features.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services powering the Quick and Shops experience.
• Write high-quality Golang code and deliver complete features; fix bugs independently.
• Build and maintain REST APIs, service-to-service integrations, and gateway systems.
• Own and evolve backend data models, catalogs, and event-driven systems (Kafka, Avro).
• Support AWS cloud infra (S3, CloudFront, DNS, certificates).
• Mentor junior engineers and drive cross-functional technical discussions.
